Australia completed their flawless trip to the West Indies with a three-wicket victory in the fifth T20I of the five-match series at Warner Park in St Kitts. They won the toss for the eighth time in the series, including the three Tests in the tour, and elected to bowl first, restricting the home side to 170 runs, the lowest of the series.

Shimron Hetmyer smashed a fine knock of 52 runs in 31 balls, while Sherfane Rutherford drilled 35 runs in 17 balls after their top three failed to put a solid contribution with the bat. Ben Dwarhuis and Nathan Ellis, in the absence of the key fast bowlers- Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, picked up five wickets.

It wasn’t a great evening for Glenn Maxwell, who dropped a catch in the field before ending with a first-ball duck. Cameron Green nailed 32 runs in 18 balls before Tim David launched 30 runs in 12 balls with four sixes and one boundary. Mitchell Owen continued his stellar show in the debut series with 37 runs in 17 balls as they chased down the score by three wickets with 18 balls to spare.

Australia script maiden 5-0 T20I clean sweep series victory against West Indies

‘We’ve had guys come in and played different roles for us. We spoke pre-tour about having flexibility and fluidity as a group. The way T20 is going, teams just keep going now, and it’s exciting, and hopefully we can continue our power hitting.’ Mitchell Marsh, the captain of the side, expressed.

Adam Zampa, the leg spinner, became the fourth player of the Australian side to play 100 T20Is alongside Glenn Maxwell, David Warner, and Aaron Finch. He pointed out that the side had been going in the right direction ahead of the next T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

‘We’ve been playing really good cricket; our World Cups haven’t gone to plan the last couple, but there’s a lot of new guys, new faces and new roles, so getting ready for whatever pops up in that T20 World Cup. It’s all (about) the build-up to that.’ Zampa addressed that their focus has shifted to the South Africa home series, where they can prepare with the full-strength squad.

The West Indies have struggled to contain Australia's formidable batting lineup in this T20I series. Their batting has proven pretty consistent, with scores of more than 200. However, poor bowling and sloppy fielding have cost them. Australia's bowling isn't great, but their powerful batting lineup, with incredible depth, is more than adequate on this small ground and flat pitch. Considering the team combination, Australia is expected to win this match.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has penalized the West Indies side with a 10% cut of their match fee for being two overs short after the time allowances were taken into consideration during the fourth T20I of the five-match series against Australia on July 26 at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

By Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for the players and player support personnel, which is related to the minimum over-rate offences. The West Indies players have been fined five percent of their match fee for every single over that the side failed to bowl in the allotted time.

Shai Hope, the captain of the side, has accepted the sanction that was proposed by the ICC match officials, avoiding the need for a formal hearing. The home side had already lost the three-match Test series by a margin of 0-3 with three huge defeats in Barbados, Grenada, and Jamaica.

West Indies fined over slow over rate during T20I series against Australia

The opening game of the five-match series in the shortest format was played at Sabina Park. West Indies smashed 189/8 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to half-centuries from captain Hope and Roston Chase. But the home side was way too powerful to chase the target by three wickets in hand and seven balls to spare, thanks to half-centuries from Mitchell Owen and Cameron Green.

The second fixture of the series ended in the same manner. Only Brandon King smashed fifty to get 172/8 in their 20 overs before the 131-run stand for the third wicket helped the visitors to take a 2-0 lead. The action moved to Warner Park, where Hope’s unbeaten century fired them over the 200-run mark. However, another poor bowling show and Tim David’s 102* sealed the deal for the Mitchell Marsh-led side.

The fourth game saw the hosts putting 205/9 on the board, shouldering on several starts. But in reply, Josh Inglis and Cameron Green smacked two fifties while Aaron Hardie drilled 23 runs to chase the 206 runs in 19.2 overs. The fifth and final fixture of the series will take place on July 29 at the same venue as Australia aim for an entire-trip whitewash.

Glenn Maxwell, who got the chance to open the batting for Australia during the T20I series against the West Indies, expects him to be back in the lower order when Travis Head returns to the side against South Africa in August as they aim to fix their line-up for the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

Maxwell was shifted to open for the fourth time in the shortest format. In the first game, he batted at number five, one slot lower than his regular number four position. While opening the batting, he smashed 145* and 66 on the previous occasions. Generally, the plan for Australia to open with him was to attack the spinner, who didn’t play a huge role at the tiny Warner Park.

It's been great fun being at the top, but I'm sure I'm just warming Heady's seat until he comes back. I think the way we're probably going to set up our T20 side heading forward is you've got Travis up the top; you've got Mitch Marsh who is captaining us brilliantly at the moment.Maxwell expressed as ESPNcricinfo’s report.

Glenn Maxwell leaks Australia’s batting line-up for T20 World Cup 2026

In the opening two games, the all-rounder bashed 12 off 10 and 20 off seven balls at the Sabina Park in Jamaica before drilling 47 off 18 in St. Kitts. His record at number four is exceptional, with four T20I centuries in that position, with the best performances for him coming in the franchise cricket at number six over the past eight months.

They're three pretty big blokes with big reach, and they hit the ball an absolute mile, so it's great to have those guys with that extra bit of power in the middle-order. It's not something we've had an abundance of over the years, and to have that at our disposal at the moment is pretty exciting.Maxwell shed light.

He is nearing 37 and three years on from his jaw-dropping effort of the double century against Afghanistan in Mumbai during the ODI World Cup. But he still provides the best fielding performance for the national side as he added,It's something I pride myself on, making sure that I can create opportunities on the boundary line.’

WI vs AUS Match Preview

We are in the fourth game of a five-game series, and the hosts, West Indies, are struggling. They lost their last game by six wickets, allowing the Australians to take a commanding 3-0 lead. So far, the team has lost all of its games versus the visitors. To stand a chance against Australia, the West Indies must play positive cricket. The Australians have taken over the West Indies on this tour, with key members of the team performing well. They have won the past eight out of ten games among the two teams and will look to continue that streak.

The West Indies have yet to win a game against the Aussies in this series. They've struggled in this way for the past two years, with few victories to celebrate. When Australia were under pressure during their 215-run chase and restricted to 87/4 in the ninth over at Warner Park in Basseterre in St Kitts, Tim David stood up and showed his support. There was so much expectation from the lower middle order batter to deliver in crunch situations, and he raised his bar when the Mitchell Marsh-led side needed him the most.

David pulled the short ball from Jason Holder to open his account with a boundary before going into the standards against Gudakesh Motie. The right-handed RCB batter used his power to smack the left-arm spinner straight down the ground for another boundary. He continued the big shots one after another and celebrated the fastest T20I half-century for Australia.

During the 10th over of the innings, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) smashed four successive sixes before taking on Akeal Hossein. Later, he drilled the fastest century for Australia in T20I in just 37 deliveries, going past Josh Inglis’ record in 43 balls against Scotland. Only Suryakumar Yadav has a better strike rate in T20Is among full-member players than David for a minimum of 1000 runs.

The Singapore-born batter remained unbeaten on 102 runs in just 37 balls thanks to six boundaries and 11 sixes at a strike rate of 275.68, while Mitchell Owen nailed 36 unbeaten runs in 16 balls to complete the chase of 215 runs in 16.1 overs and six wickets in spare. They put up an undefeated stand of 128 runs in just 44 deliveries.

‘I just had a great time in the middle, wanting to make the most of every opportunity with the bat. It was nice to spend time at home. I had picked up a niggle, didn't think too much, didn't think I would score a 100 for Australia. The pitch was good and the boundaries were short; I just backed myself to play my shots. He said at the end of the game.

Earlier, the home side crossed the 210-run mark in the first innings, thanks to their captain’s unbeaten knock of 102 runs in 57 balls, while Brandon King drilled 62 runs in 36 balls at a strike rate of 172.22, in a 125-run opening stand in 11.4 overs. But they didn’t carry the momentum and added just 89 runs in the next 50 balls.

WI vs AUS Match Preview

Australian players are in great form. In the first two games of the five-match series, they won consecutively. Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, and Mitchell Owen have been the driving forces behind their current winning streak. The third T20I of the series will take place at Warner Park in St Kitts. It is not a high-scoring venue, and unlike the two previous matches, the bowlers will have the advantage in this one. Adam Zampa is the one to watch in Australia's bowling attack. He and Glenn Maxwell broke through the Windies' top order in the second T20I, shifting the game's momentum in their favour.

After losing the first T20I, the West Indies will be looking to level the series. This format generally suits them, and with the power-hitters they possess, they can put pressure on Australia—as long as they don't waste wickets. Nonetheless, the task is steep. Australia has won 13 of their last 15 in this format, included the series opener, and they appear to be full of confidence. Their batting lineup has more variety right now, and unless the West Indies can put a stop to the scoring early on, this could slip past them again. Considering the team combination, Australia is expected to win this match.

After the first few games of the Tri-series between Zimbabwe, South Africa, and New Zealand, and the two bilateral series of West Indies vs Australia and Bangladesh vs Pakistan. The Test captain of the Caribbean side, Roston Chase, has got a promotion in the ICC Men’s all-rounder rankings with his cracking knock of 60 runs in 32 balls in the series opener to achieve his career-best position.

Chase jumps seven spots to claim second place and now trails only Hardik Pandya. Cameron Green has also risen eight places to the occasion after his match-winning half-century in the first game against the West Indies. In bowling, left-arm Bangladesh pacer, Mustafizur Rahman, made a notable leap to break into the top 10.

He now stands on the joint-ninth rank with Arshdeep Singh with 653 points after his stellar show of three wickets at an average of seven against Pakistan in the home T20I series. His team-mate, Mehedi Hasan, has gone up nine places to 16th as he contributed with three wickets in the ongoing series against Pakistan, thanks to 2/25.

Roston Chase earns second place in ICC Men’s T20I all-rounder rankings

New Zealand pacer Matt Henry has climbed up 13 places to 29th in the bowler rankings with six wickets in two games in the Zimbabwe tri-series. In the batting department, the West Indies captain of the format, Shai Hope, obtained 670 rating points to be placed in the tenth position as he smashed 55 runs in 39 balls during the first Jamaica clash.

Mitchell Marsh, Hope’s opposite number, has jumped three spots to be placed at the 23rd position with 592 points. The all-rounder will hope for better performance individually. However, as a team, they have already earned a 2-0 series lead in the five-match series in the Caribbean as the action moves to Warner Park for the last three games post Andre Russell’s retirement.

Bangladesh has already won the series by taking an undefeated lead of 2-0 against Pakistan as the third game will take place on July 24. On the other hand, New Zealand and South Africa will face each other in the final, given that the home side, Zimbabwe, has faced three defeats in as many games in the tri-series so far.

Just before the start of the five-match T20I series for the West Indies against Australia, the veteran all-rounder, Andre Russell, announced that the second T20I clash of the series in Jamaica will be his last international encounter in the Maroon. It was a bolt from the blue decision for the experienced campaigner, especially with just six months to go for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

On July 22 (July 23 on IST), Andre Russell walked out before the start of the game with a guard of honour as all the players from both camps clapped in appreciation of the incredible contribution from the individual. It was my massive evening in the West Indies, which they called Dre Day, and he received a great moment alongside the warm applause.

The 37-year-old finished his T20I career with 1122 runs at a strike rate of 163.8- thanks to three half-centuries at the best score of 71 runs. With the ball, on the other hand, the right-arm pacer picked up 61 wickets in 74 innings at an average of 31.19 and an economy rate of well over nine.

Russell was brutal with the bat in the evening as he smacked Ben Dwarshuis for a huge six straight down the ground as the ball made a hold in the sight screen. When the left-arm pacer pulled the length back, the batter used his power to drill it behind the square region for another six. Another wide delivery was put into the stands as he finished with 36 runs in just 15 balls at a strike rate of 240.

‘I remember the two World Cups we won, the flags going high, but at the end of the day - I think it was time to move ahead, we have a good bunch of guys (in the team), Shephard is throwing some punches and there are the likes of Rutherford, Alzarri and Holder as well.’ He expressed after the end of the game.

Despite Russell’s knock, the West Indies could finish with only 172/8 in 20 overs before the visitors chased it down comfortably with eight wickets in hand and nearly five overs to spare. Josh Inglis won the ‘player of the match’ award for his 78 unbeaten runs in 33 balls.

Fast bowlers typically enjoy the bounce at Sabina Park, particularly early on when there is some carry. Batting becomes easier as the ball softens, but strokeplay still requires timing over brute force in the middle overs

WI vs AUS Probable Winners:

After losing the first T20I, the West Indies will be looking to level the series. This format generally suits them, and with the power-hitters they possess, they can put pressure on Australia—as long as they don't waste wickets. Nonetheless, the task is steep. Australia has won 13 of their last 15 in this format, included the series opener, and they appear to be full of confidence. Their batting lineup has more variety right now, and unless the West Indies can put a stop to the scoring early on, this could slip past them again. Considering the team combination, Australia is expected to win this match.
