London Spirit women stood nervously while Welsh Fire women pushed hard but just came up short two runs short in a nerve-wracking conclusion at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. London Spirit elected to bat and posted 124 all out in 99 balls with Charli Knott top-scoring with a resolute 47 off 33, while Welsh bowlers Katie Levick (3/26) and Freya Davies (3/16) did considerable damage. When Welsh Fire came to chase down 125, they appeared to be on track at 73/1 after good starts from Sophia Dunkley (36) and Hayley Matthews (26). However, the game changed with key dismissals, mainly Jess Jonassen's run-out, but the biggest pressure was the last over that led to a 2-run victory for Spirit women.

The London Spirit Women stayed cool to secure a close-fought 2-run victory over the Welsh Fire Women in the 6th Match of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2025 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

First Innings – London Spirit Women (124 all out in 99 balls)

Electing to bat first, the London Spirit had a shaky start, losing Kira Chathli (19) and Redmayne (11) in quick succession to the kettle of disciplined bowling from Hayley Matthews and Katie Levick, who were on song and stunted the middle order.

A brief burst of revival from Charli Knott (47 off 33), who hung on bravely with an aggressive batting style while wickets fell at the other end. Charli’s innings featured 7 fours and an SR of 142.42. Despite Charli's valiant efforts in her innings, Levick's four wickets (4/26) and Davies's (3/16) ensured London Spirit Women were all out for 124 with one ball left in the innings.

Ultimately, it came down to a nervy finish when Jess Jonassen (29 off 24) was run out after the 98th ball, but Welsh Fire now needed to get 4 runs from 2 balls. Georgia Elwiss (9) couldn't find the boundary, and Spirit was able to defend their target, claiming a very tight win.
