When the time is for Wimbledon, Indian cricketers love to visit the place, watching their favorite tennis players live in action from the gallery. Like Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav also attended a match at Wimbledon.

During his visit, he was asked a tricky but interesting question. Yadav is known for his swashbuckling batting skills and ability to play shots across every corner of the ground. His innovative style of swinging the blade defines another dimension of modern-era cricket. Wimbledon, from their official Instagram account, shared a video of the star India batter talking about his desire to add a particular tennis shot into his cricket shot arsenal. It was SKY's first visit to Wimbledon, and he was amazed to watch a live match of Novak Djokovic.

"I have been following his career for a very long time. I even read his book ‘Serve to Win,’ which really inspired me," India T20 Captain said about Djokovic. "I’ve always heard about the atmosphere around Centre Court, especially the moment you walk in. I am here to experience that surreal feeling in person."

Which tennis shot he would like to play in a cricket match?

But the portion of a conversation shared by Wimbledon and Suryakumar himself contains the question, "Which tennis shot does Surya want to try?" In reply he said, "The twinner shot that I want to play when I play on the cricket field."

Furthermore, Surya said that there are some similarities between cricket and tennis. "Mental toughness plays a crucial role in both. There is also a lot of endurance involved. In cricket, we keep running the same 20-25 meters repeatedly, and it is similar in tennis as well. So, I would say strong mental resolve and endurance are the two big common factors,” he said.

<![CDATA['I think I have to support...' - Rishabh Pant predicts winner of Wimbledon 2025]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/i-think-i-have-to-support-rishabh-pant-predicts-winner-of-wimbledon-2025/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/i-think-i-have-to-support-rishabh-pant-predicts-winner-of-wimbledon-2025/ Wed, 09 Jul 2025 13:48:39 GMT

Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant was recently spotted enjoying the electric atmosphere of Wimbledon 2025 in London, where he witnessed the Round 4 showdown between Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov. With the third Test against England at Lord’s scheduled to begin on July 10, Pant made the most of his downtime by soaking in some top-tier tennis action at the prestigious Grand Slam.

Pant, widely celebrated for his fearless and unconventional batting style, shared his admiration for tennis icon Novak Djokovic during his appearance. Speaking to Star Sports, Pant likened Djokovic’s ability to his own style of cricket, saying the Serbian legend could definitely replicate the kind of shots he plays on the cricket field.
He also reflected on how the evolving nature of modern sport continues to inspire him.

In a surprising yet insightful revelation, Pant threw his support behind Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz to clinch the Wimbledon 2025 title. Alcaraz, who recently beat Cameron Norrie in the quarter-finals, is now set to face American Taylor Fritz in the semis.
Pant said, “I think I have to support Alcaraz. I think he's going to win Wimbledon. That's my prediction. Rest, whoever plays the best tennis eventually is going to win. I think Djokovic definitely can pull it off (my shots) for sure.”

From Federer’s backhand to Kyrgios’ charisma

Pant also opened up about the tennis players who have influenced him over the years. He revealed that Roger Federer’s iconic backhand was a major inspiration for him during his formative years. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter noted how Federer’s elegance left a lasting impression, even as the game evolved with new champions like Djokovic taking the spotlight.
