In the away WODI series opener against the hosts England Women, Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues took a stunning catch in the crucial moment to dismiss the English captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who was set and batting strongly.  

After winning the WT20I series by 3-2, India Women are busy in the three-match away WODI series against the hosts England, as it is a huge preparation for both teams for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. After the English captain Nat Sciver-Brunt won the toss, she chose to bat first, and England Women scored 258/6 in 50 overs.

Jemimah Rodrigues took a stunning low catch to dismiss English captain Nat Sciver-Brunt

After both the English openers fell cheaply, Emma Lamb and skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt had a useful partnership to set a base for the team. They had a 71-run partnership for the third wicket before Sneh Rana dismissed Lamb for 39 runs in the 19th over. In her very next over, she dismissed the English skipper, who was batting on 41 off 52 balls with five fours. Jemimah Rodrigues should get the full credit for that wicket for her excellent catch.

It was a full-length delivery to the middle stump, while Rodrigues just replaced Smriti Mandhana at short midwicket, and superbly took a low catch to dismiss the good-looking English skipper.

English middle-order batters strongly batted in second half

However, the strong middle-order batting helped England Women manage a challenging total from a struggling situation of 97/4. Sophia Dunkley and Alice Davidson-Richards set a 106-run partnership for the fifth wicket, while Dunkley and Sophie Ecclestone also built up a 55-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Dunkley scored 83 off 92 balls with nine fours, while Alice scored 53 off 73 balls (two fours) and Ecclestone was not out for 23 runs in 19 balls (three fours).
