The group stage of the ongoing IPL 2025 is getting more and more interesting as multiple teams are still in the race for the play-off race. After a doubleheader Sunday, three top teams have already booked their places in the next stage, leaving three more teams to tussle for the fourth spot of the berth.

Kolkata Knight Riders was the latest and the fourth team to be knocked out of the race after a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was washed out due to rain. RCB needed only one point to confirm their playoff ticket, and they got it. After a couple of exciting matches yesterday (May 18), RCB was joined by Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings.

Gujarat Titans' 10-wicket win over Delhi Capitals sent them straight to the top of the points chart, and Punjab Kings are in third place after defeating Rajasthan Royals by ten wickets. Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders are four teams that are already now out of the circle, and GT, RCB, and PBKS confirmed their playoff spots, which means Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants are still in the brawl for the fourth spot on the ladder.

While LSG is now the least favorite for qualification. The Rishabh Pant-led side, currently with 10 points, will play 3 more matches to round up their group phase. If they win all of their remaining fixtures, LSG will get 16, and the cut-off score is 17, so they will have to keep an eye on other games as well.

Mumbai and Delhi are the teams with almost similar positions

Mumbai Indians, with 14 points, will play two more games in the group stage, which can take the points to 18. The Hardik Pandya-led side will face Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. Mumbai vs. Delhi will be an interesting contest to decide the fourth team of the round of four.

Delhi Capitals has 13 points and 2 more games to play, one against MI and the other against PBKS. The Capitals need to win both of the contests to keep their hopes alive.
