IPL 2025: KL Rahul breaks Virat Kohli's record in T20s during DC vs GT contest
When KL Rahul is in full flow, then no barrier in the world can dare to disrupt the movement. Even world-class bowlers like Kagiso Rabada looked ordinary when the right-handed Indian lofted the outside off-stump delivery over long-off for a droolworthy maximum.

When KL Rahul is in full flow, then no barrier in the world can dare to disrupt the movement. Even world-class bowlers like Kagiso Rabada looked ordinary when the right-handed Indian lofted the outside off-stump delivery over long-off for a droolworthy maximum. That's how Rahul broke Virat Kohli's all-time T20 record today (May 18) during the Delhi Capitals vs. Gujarat Titans (DC vs. GT) match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
KL Rahul added another IPL ton in his profile. The versatile cricketer was in swift motion against Gujarat Titans, who have bowlers like Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. With that six mentioned above, Rahul became the fastest Indian cricketer to score 8,000 T20 runs, surpassing Virat Kohli.
Kohli took 243 innings to touch the milestone, and Rahul did that in his 224th T20 match innings. Only Chris Gayle and Babar Azam are ahead of the Indian batter in this record list. Gayle and Azam took 213 and 218 innings, respectively, to complete eight thousand runs in the Twenty20 format.

Delhi Capitals could've add more runs on the scoreboard
KL Rahul, on match number 60 of IPL 2025, bagged an unbeatable 112-run innings against 65 balls. Through the destructive innings, the wicketkeeper-batter showed his all-around hitting abilities with a clear bunch of classic-looking shots. Former India cricketer Virendra Sehwag was impressed by KL's clinical hits by using balance and timing, especially when he chose to play shots with the back of the leg. The Delhi Capitals opener curated his whole innings with four 6s and fourteen 4s, which elevated his strike rate to 172.31.
Despite a hundred on board, DC didn't even reach a 200 mark, getting 199 in exchange for 3 wickets. Rahul alone faced 65 deliveries, and the rest of the batters in the lineup faced 55 with a lower strike rate.
