Ravindra Jadeja again proved his importance at the lower middle order. As a batsman at No. 7 or lower than that position, Jadeja achieved a rare record in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Austria) countries as an Indian. On Day 2 of the second test of the ongoing five-match series, the all-rounder leveled the legendary Kapil Dev.

Ravindra Jadeja came to bat at Edgbaston, Birmingham, at the number seven position. He lost his wicket just before lunch. By that time, the 36-year-old had scored 89 of 137 balls with 10 boundaries and one over the boundary. With skipper Shubman Gill, who scored his Test 200 after Jadeja's departure, Jadeja stitched a two hundred-plus partnership.

England pacer Josh Tounge, on 107.3 overs of the first innings, helped his team to get rid of Jadeja. The extra pace surprised the batter and ended in a simple catch in the safe hands of Jamie Smith. The veteran missed his Test century by only eleven runs.

It was Jadeja's eighth 50-plus score in SENA nations while batting at No. 7 or lower, equalling Kapil Dev and only trailing MS Dhoni, who is top of the list with ten such scores.

Most 50-plus scores by Indian players in SENA Tests (at number 7 or lower than that position)

1. 10- Mahendra Singh Dhoni (52 Innings)

2. 8—Kapil Dev (50 innings)

3. 8- Ravindra Jadeja (37 Innings)

But the notable thing is that Jadeja took fewer innings to register his name in the list. He can get multiple chances to surpass Dhoni and capture the top of the chart. India is yet to bat in the second innings of the ongoing Test, and three more matches are to be played after that. In this series Jadeja can get enough opportunity to extend his numbers.
