After the India-New Zealand series in which the former lost 1-2, the Indian superstar batter Virat Kohli lost his spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings. Daryl Mitchell, the New Zealand player, who scored a decisive hundred in New Zealand's historic ODI series win (their first in 37 years), has taken Kohli's place.

To note Kohli's individual rating did increase by 10 points in the latest rankings update, although. However, Mitchell sprung up to the top with an impressive series by jumping from 784 to 845 rating points, thereby creating a huge gap between him and the others. Kohli had just last week taken back the No.1 ranking after a series of strong performances, but Mitchell, who was just a point behind him, has now gone past him with a great margin.

The Kiwi was awarded Player of the Series for his performance, which was the highest run-scorer with 352 runs in three innings at a mind-boggling average of 176. His score included two centuries and a fifty, which only went to show that he was the king of the series all along.

Descending from the top two, Ibrahim Zadran ascended to the third position with 764 points, exchanging places with Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who fell to fourth place after having a sub-par series. Rohit scored only 61 runs in three innings, again, he could not convert his starts. Shubman Gill still occupies the fifth position, ensuring that India has three batters in the top five.

ICC ODI Batting Rankings (Top 15)

Meanwhile, KL Rahul made a comeback into the top 10, moving up to the 10th position after his impressive performance in the series against New Zealand, whereas Shreyas Iyer holds the 11th position, just outside the top ten.

In the bowlers' list, Michael Bracewell was the most notable riser, moving up six spots to the 33rd position. The top spot for the ODI bowling rankings is still held by Afghan bowler Rashid Khan who has been leading the charts, meanwhile, he has also made improvements in the T20I rankings which he shares with his fellow teammate Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
