The Indian cricket team is currently playing a 5-match Test series against England under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. During this Test series, India’s star javelin thrower and two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra was asked which Indian player would perform the best and throw the javelin the farthest in a javelin throw competition. Neeraj Chopra named one player.

Bumrah will throw the javelin the farthest. Neeraj Chopra won two gold medals for the country in June 2025. On June 20, he won the gold medal by throwing the javelin more than 90 meters in the Paris Diamond League. After that, on June 25, he won another gold medal in the Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 by throwing 85.29 meters in the final.

Neeraj Chopra gave an interview to Star Sports. When he was asked which player in the Indian cricket team would perform the best and throw the javelin the farthest, he named Jasprit Bumrah.

At present, one of the fittest players in the Indian team is Virat Kohli, but Neeraj Chopra did not choose him. Neeraj said that India's star fast bowler Bumrah can throw the javelin the farthest and he will do the best in this sport.

Bumrah is currently in England and is playing a 5-match Test series. He took 5 wickets in the first innings of the first Test. However, he might not play in the second match. Due to workload management, Bumrah may be rested in the second Test match.

Currently, the MI Pacer is leading the Indian bowling attack, which includes four fast bowlers and one spinner for the first Test. However, if Bumrah misses the match due to workload management, then Mohammed Siraj, who is the next most experienced bowler, might lead the bowling attack.

In Bumrah’s absence, bowlers like Prasidh Krishna and the fourth pacer, possibly Arshdeep Singh or Akash Deep, will have more responsibility if they are picked for the Edgbaston Test. At the same time, there have been suggestions made to captain Shubman Gill and mentor Gautam Gambhir to include Kuldeep Yadav in the team.
