Team India pace spearheaded Jasprit Bumrah continues to dominate the world, maintaining the number 1 ICC Test bowler rankings. South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada, second place holder of the ladder, 50 points behind Jasprit. Despite a back injury during the previous Border Gavaskar Trophy, he made his comeback strongly and started from the point where he left. Ahead of the 4th match of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar trophy, the childhood coach of the India speed-star revealed about the early days when Bumrah first came to the academy.

From his early days Bumrah is maintaining his unusual bowling action. His childhood bowling coach, Trivedi recalled when other boys of the academy reacted to watch Bumrah's 'odd action'. Like the boys, even the coach monitored the bowling action closely to make sure if the action was right or not. 

"When Jasprit first came to the nets, he had this odd action. The boys were confused. They were asking me, ‘Is he throwing it or is this a correct action?’ They thought he was throwing it. I observed his action closely for three days. It was absolutely fine — there was nothing ‘chuck’ about it", Trivedi said.

Academy boys feard to face Jasprit Bumrah 

Apart from the bowling action, Bumrah's run up, bowling speed and all surprised Trivedi. At the age of 16, the right-handed bowler could generate the ball with a lot of pace. Seeing all the surprising and effective factors at once, Trivedi asked Bumrah not to change his blowing action at all. 

"His run-up was 10 or 12 yards, but he generated so much speed that the boys were afraid to face him because the ball was bouncing so much... I said to Jasprit: ‘You should not change your action. That is your weapon. Don’t change anything about it. You can change your line and length, where you aim the ball. But this is your original action — it’s natural. And you never change natural", he added. 

Team India captain Shubman Gill provided important updates about the injury status of Rishabh Pant. The keeper-batter received an injury on his fingertips during the England vs. India 3rd Test at the Lord's cricket ground.

Despite receiving some medical treatments, he was in clear discomfort, and after that particular over of Jasprit Bumrah, Pant left his spot to Dhruv Jurel, who did the keeping job as Pant was forced to leave the field because of the injury. Rishabh did his batting job with the pain and experienced a hard time against the fast bowlers.

In the second innings, with the injury, the middle-order batter played multiple strokes using only one hand. So, the tension about his availability in the 4th Test at the Old Trafford inManchester is under the scanner. The recent updates provided by the captain would allow Indian cricket fans to breathe in fresh air. Gill is hopeful about Pant's recovery ahead of their next assignment, as the injury may not be so serious.

"Rishabh went for scans, and there is no major injury there. I think he should be fine for the next test match," Gill said to the reporters. 

The southpaw's inputs can be crucial for Team India, as Team India is currently trailing the 5-match series by 2-1 against England. His counter-attacking batting style in the middle often forced the opposition to make a shift in their strategy. Currently, Pant is the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, having scored 425 runs from six innings, including two centuries. India captain Shubman Gill is top of the chart with a whopping 607 runs in the three tests played so far. India will target to win the upcoming match, which is scheduled to take place at Old Trafford in Manchester, beginning on July 23, as the match will be a do-or-die situation for the touring side. 

Former India cricketer Madan Lal requested Virat Kohli to reconsider his retirement from Test cricket. Just after the day of the Lord's Test, where India narrowly missed a second straight victory in the ongoing 5-match Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.

Before the next assignment, which is scheduled to be started on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester, Madan Lal requested Virat to make a Test comeback. The former international highlighted Virat's passion and dedication for the format.

"Virat Kohli's passion for Indian cricket was unmatched. It's my wish that he should come back to Test cricket after retirement. There's nothing wrong with returning. If not in this series, he should make a comeback in the next (match)," Madan Lal said. He believed that the former Indian captain can still play one or two more years in the longest format of the game and can guide the young cricketers to make progress at the highest order.

"From my point of view, he should reverse his retirement. Because he can easily play for 1–2 years. It's about you passing your experience to the youngsters. You just left it. It's not too late. Please come back," he added.

Jadeja, Rahul fought hard 

At Lord's, India was in a great position to win the match. England, in the second innings, posted only 192 on the scoreboard and left India to chase a 193-run target in the decisive innings. On a decreasing Lord's surface, the Team India batters could not hold on to their ground and fell apart. 

An important stint from KL Rahul and another fifty-plus innings by Ravindra Jadeja kept India in the run chase. But England's bowling line-up with a returning Jofra Archer did not allow the rest of the Indian batting order to float. After a fast-moving day, the home team got a 22-run, hard-fought win. They will try to pocket the series by winning the next match at Old Trafford, Manchester, and India will try to level it at 2-2.

Team England have sacrificed two points of the current World Test Championship circle for their slow over rate in their recently concluded match against India at Lord's. The step was taken against Ben Stokes and Co. because of the slow over rate within the time allowed to conclude a target number of overs.

England has docked a couple of WTC points under Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, by which a side is penalized one point for each over short, and after time allowances were taken into consideration. For which, England now slipped to the third place from second in the WTC points tally. Sri Lanka took second place, and Australia remained as the table topper.

The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Ahsan Raza, and fourth umpire Graham Lloyd. According to an official release by ICC, "England's tally in the World Test Championship standings dropped from 24 to 22 out of 36 points, consequently reducing their point percentage from 66.67% to 61.11%."

Also fined 10%

Additionally, according to rules, they were also fined 10 percent of their match fee; this came under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. According to this ICC rule, players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time. England captain Ben Stokes accepted the proposed sanction imposed by Richie Richardson of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

He bowled 39.2 overs in total and kept a high pace throughout – his average speed never dropped below 87mph, and he bowled 41 balls over 90mph.

'The Mentality Suits Me,' Says Archer

The Lord’s Test was the first time Archer played a red-ball game under coach Brendon McCullum. Talking about it, the pacer said that the team has played an exciting brand of cricket lately, and the mindset really suits him.

Archer’s first game under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum went really well, and he is happy that the long rehab work paid off.

“Test cricket was always going to take the most time to come back to. I played 50-over and T20 cricket for the last one and a half to two years. You always just wondered… The guys have played some really exciting cricket since Baz [McCullum] took charge. I think the team’s mindset under Baz fits the way I like to play. So, I just couldn’t wait to get back and actually do it without needing any push.”
