A batter who achieves 1,000 runs in Test cricket demonstrates exceptional ability to perform at a high level throughout the longest format of the game. The record of reaching the milestone within the fastest time frame shows that multiple legendary cricketers achieved this record during their careers in women's Test cricket. The sport has been shaped by players who started in the early days and developed into present-day stars such as Ellyse Perry.

The list shows the quickest female players who achieved 1,000 Test runs together with their international cricket accomplishments.

Sandhya Agarwal (India) – 18 innings

Sandhya Agarwal holds the record for the fastest woman to reach 1,000 Test runs, achieving the milestone in just 18 innings. The former India captain who played women's Test cricket during the 1980s established herself as one of the most dependable batters of her time.

Agarwal is widely remembered for her historic 190 against England in 1984 which became the highest individual score in women's Test cricket. The Indian women's cricket team established their ascent through her capacity to construct lengthy batting performances while sustaining the team's offense.

She completed her Test career with 1,110 runs across 13 matches while achieving an exceptional batting average above 50. Her record for the fastest 1,000 Test runs still stands as one of the most remarkable achievements in the history of women's cricket.

Enid Bakewell (England) – 22 innings

Enid Bakewell reached the 1,000-run milestone in 22 innings, becoming one of England’s most celebrated all-rounders. Bakewell established herself as a key player for England because of her smooth left-handed batting style and her successful spin bowling which helped the team dominate during the 1960s and 1970s.

Her career reached one of its highest points when she achieved 124 runs and 101 runs during her Test match performance against the West Indies in 1979, which made her one of the few players to achieve two batting centuries during a women's Test match.

The 1,078 Test runs and 50 wickets which Bakewell achieved during her career established her as one of the top all-rounders in the early days of women's international cricket.

Karen Rolton (Australia) – 22 innings

Karen Rolton matched the record of reaching 1,000 Test runs in 22 innings, underlining her status as one of Australia’s greatest batters.

Rolton built her reputation as a player through her combination of aggressive batting style and her ability to overpower all bowlers. The 2001 Women’s Ashes Test stands as her most recognized performance which she achieved by scoring an unbroken 209 runs for England which ranks among the greatest individual achievements in women’s Test cricket history.

She finished her Test career after playing 14 matches where she scored 1,002 runs at an average above 55. Rolton became the captain of Australia after she developed the team into a dominant force in contemporary women's cricket.

Charlotte Edwards (England) – 23 innings

Charlotte Edwards reached the milestone after playing 23 innings which demonstrated her ability to perform consistently at the highest level of batting for England.

Edwards dedicated her entire professional life to international cricket as she played for England during two complete decades. Her calm temperament and technical strength enabled her to perform successfully in every cricket format.

Edwards scored 1676 runs through 23 Test matches which established her as one of England's top players in Test cricket. Her leadership of England during major tournaments established her as an enduring authority in women's cricket.

Debbie Hockley (New Zealand) – 24 innings

Debbie Hockley reached 1,000 Test runs in 24 innings, becoming one of New Zealand’s greatest cricketing icons.

Hockley built her reputation through two main skills which included her batting technique and her performance during high-pressure situations. She represented New Zealand for more than two decades and was instrumental in raising the profile of women's cricket in the country.

She finished her Test career with 1,301 runs from 19 matches, which gave her an average of almost 53. The ICC Hall of Fame recognized Hockley for her significant contributions to cricket through her induction into the hall.

Ellyse Perry (Australia) – 24 innings

Ellyse Perry achieved 1,000 Test runs after playing 24 innings which became another achievement in her exceptional Test career. She accomplished this milestone at the WACA Stadium in Perth during the single Test match against India. Perry became only the second Australian woman to score 1,000 Test runs after Karen Rolton and soon went past her to become Australia’s highest run-scorer in women’s Test cricket.

Perry stands as one of the greatest all-rounders in women’s cricket because she has maintained her excellence in both batting and bowling throughout her entire professional career. One of her biggest Test highlights came in the 2017 Women’s Ashes, where she scored a remarkable 213 not out against England. She stays as an essential contributor to Australian cricket through her abilities in batting, seam bowling, and fielding across all playing formats.

Myrtle Maclagan (England) – 25 innings

Myrtle Maclagan achieved her milestone after playing 25 innings which made her one of the first female cricket stars to compete in international matches.

Maclagan played during the formative years of the women’s game in the 1930s and was a pioneer for England. She operated as a dynamic batter while serving as a valuable off-spin bowler who made significant contributions to her team's performance. Her accomplishments established England as a major power in women's cricket during its initial development stage.

Jan Brittin (England) – 25 innings

Jan Brittin achieved his 1,000 Test runs milestone after playing 25 innings yet he continues to be one of England's most esteemed batsmen.

Brittin played a crucial role in England's success during the 1980s and early 1990s because she showed great determination while scoring runs under difficult circumstances.Throughout her Test career she accumulated 1,935 runs which positions her among the top run scorers in women's Test cricket history.

Claire Taylor (England) – 25 innings

Claire Taylor finished her career by reaching 1,000 Test runs which she achieved in 25 innings because she maintained consistent performance throughout her longest format matches.

Taylor was widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted batters of her generation. She played a central role in England’s triumph in the 2009 Women’s World Cup and World T20. Her calm approach and ability to construct long innings made her a dependable presence in England’s batting lineup.

In the third ODI, Australia set a target of 409 runs, and the Indian team was all out for only 224 runs. Renuka Singh has been ruled out of India’s one-off Test against Australia women's cricket team due to workload management, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirming that she has been advised rest ahead of the pink-ball clash at the WACA.

The BCCI stated that Renuka's workload needs to be carefully monitored and the medical team will continue to assess her fitness progress. The right-arm seamer has appeared in three home Tests during which he achieved two wickets his first match against England.

Young pacer Kashvee Gautam now fills Renuka Singh's vacant position on the team. Although yet to make her Test debut, Kashvee has represented India in six ODIs and was part of the ongoing multi-format tour. She achieved success at the recent domestic multi-day tournament by taking four wickets across three matches and demonstrating her all-round skills through an unbeaten 106 run performance which she achieved in 86 balls during one of the matches.

India seek red-ball reset after ODI setback

India will play their next Test match after losing their ODI series against Australia. The home team achieved a complete 3-0 victory in the 50-over series which included a powerful 158 performance from Alyssa Healy in the third ODI match. India succeeded in the T20I series but their bowling attack failed to stop Australia's batting strength during the ODIs.

India will play their next Test match at Perth which will be their first red-ball match in Australia since their 2021 drawn match. The Indian team will focus on Kashvee Gautam who needs to prove herself as an effective fast bowler for overseas matches because multiple fast bowlers in the team still lack Test match experience.

In his last ODI innings, the wicket-keeper opening batter of the Australian side, Alyssa Healy, signed off with a fine century during the third fixture of the three-match series against India at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. There was no one prouder than his husband, and the left-arm pacer of the national men’s side, Mitchell Starc, who was in the commentary box for the moment.

At the start of the game, Healy got a guard of honour from the Indian side as she shook hands with the opposition captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, before taking the field one last time with the bat in hand. On the 31st over, she rocked back and pulled the short ball from Deepti Sharma through square leg for a fine boundary to complete her century in just 79 balls.

In the very next over, Healy clubbed Shree Charani for 21 runs in five balls, which was decorated with three successive boundaries and a six, which she timed over wide long-on after getting low on her stance, which reflected how technically powerful she had been.

Alyssa Healy celebrates 79-run century in AUS-W vs IND-W 3rd ODI

Healy, with a single, thanks to the quick dab to the short third man, reached his 150 runs. Her first half-century came in 49 balls before she celebrated her next fifty runs in 30 balls before making his journey from 100 to 150 in just 16 balls. She finished with 158 runs in 98 balls at a strike rate of 160, thanks to 27 boundaries and two sixes.

Watch the video here:

Their number three batter, Georgia Voll, bagged 62 runs in 52 balls with the help of seven boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 120, while their number four batter, Beth Mooney, dashed unbeaten 87 runs in 74 balls with the help of eight fours and one six.

Australia made their way to 357/7 in 46.1 overs, and it seemed like they would be crossing the 380-run mark quite easily. Renuka Singh Thakur was decent with the new ball and returned with figures of 1/64 in 10 overs, including one maiden.

Brief Scores: AUS-W 409/7 (Alyssa Healy 158, Beth Mooney 106*, Sneh Rana 2/66) vs IND-W.

AUS-W vs IND-W Match Preview

The visitors made history by winning the T20I series, but the hosts responded by winning two ODI in a row to wrap up the series. A win today for Australia would complete the clean sweep. After an improved batting game, the women in blue lost yet again. Skipper Alyssa Healey and Beth Mooney were the standout performers in the first game, leading the hosts to a 6-wicket victory, while Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll delivered match-winning knocks in the second ODI. Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Pratika Rawal are India Women's key performers, each scoring at least fifty runs in the series. However, because none of them were able to build on their initial efforts, the visitors found themselves playing catch-up with each subsequent outing.

Australia Women will take on India Women in the third and final ODI of the series on March 1 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The hosts have already secured the series by winning the first two matches, making this a final opportunity for India to end the tour on a positive note.

Australia Women have been too good so far in the ODI series. They won the first match convincingly and then produced another good performance in the second match. In the last match against India Women, Australia Women chased down the target with six wickets in hand and plenty of overs to spare. Georgia Voll was outstanding with her batting, hitting her maiden century and taking her team to victory.

India Women, although they won the T20I series against Australia Women, have been struggling in the 50-over format. Their batting department has been unable to convert good starts into big totals. Moreover, losing wickets at crucial junctures of the game has hurt them. Their captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has been emphasizing the importance of good partnerships and shot selection. India will look to put up a stronger all-round performance in this final ODI.

AUS-W vs IND-W: Pitch Report

The pitch at Bellerive Oval in Hobart is expected to be very good for batting in the third and final match of the series. A high-scoring game is likely, as the surface should help batters more than bowlers. However, spinners may get some turn if they bowl slower through the air and use the pitch wisely.

The Indian women's national cricket team are currently playing an ODI series in Australia. India suffered back-to-back defeats in the series. In the second ODI at Hobart, Georgia Voll scored 101 after getting three chances, while Phoebe Litchfield made a quick 80. Australia won by five wickets and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

India scored 251/9 after half-centuries from Pratika Rawal (52) and Harmanpreet Kaur (54). However, Australia chased the target easily with 13.5 overs left.

During the match, Harmanpreet had an awkward moment. In the 39th over, she tried to play a scoop shot off Megan Schutt. The ball hit her own helmet and dropped near her. The 36-year-old scored 54 runs from 70 balls and was lucky to avoid a serious injury.

Watch the video of Harmanpreet Kaur getting hit on the helmet below:

What Happened During Harmanpreet’s Scoop Shot?

When Megan Schutt bowled a slower ball, Harmanpreet Kaur had already decided to play a scoop shot. She wanted to hit the ball behind the wicket because there was space. But the ball was slower and wide outside the off stump. She mistimed the shot. The ball took a small edge and hit the grill of her helmet.

The Indian captain quickly fixed her helmet and continued playing. She looked calm and did not show any worry. It was a rare and funny moment in an international match. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who was on the commentary panel, was seen laughing after watching the replay.

Australia Seal Series With Strong Chase

The match itself was serious and important. Australia were already leading the series, and India needed a strong reply. India batted first and scored 251/9 in 50 overs. Harmanpreet led the scoring with 54 runs from 70 balls, while Pratika Rawal added 52.

Australia chased the target comfortably. Georgia Voll scored 101 despite being dropped twice. Phoebe Litchfield made 80 runs with attacking shots. Voll and Litchfield added 119 runs for the second wicket. Australia reached 252/5 in just over 36 overs.

Voll hit 13 fours and one six in her 82-ball 101. Litchfield struck 11 fours and one six before getting out. Annabel Sutherland also scored a quick 48 to finish the game. For India, Sree Charani picked two wickets, but the rest of the bowlers struggled.

Australia won the match by five wickets and took a 2-0 lead in the series. The third ODI will be played on Sunday at the same ground.

Brief Scores:
India – 251/9 in 50 overs (Harmanpreet Kaur 54, Pratika Rawal 52)
Australia – 252/5 in 36.1 overs (Georgia Voll 101, Phoebe Litchfield 80)
