"It’s with mixed emotions that the upcoming India series will be my last for Australia. I’m still passionate about playing for Australia, but I’ve somewhat lost that competitive edge that’s kept me driven since the start, so the time feels right to call it a day." Healy, 35, said.

For the last 16 years, the batter took part in every possible tournament, which may have affected her mental health as well. Retirement is always a tough issue to tackle for a player. But at this point, Healy is really excited before her last match in front of the home crowd.

Alyssa Healy reveals why she decided to retire

"Every contest I wanted to be a part of and wanted to compete in, and it’s probably drained me a bit more over the years. The opportunity to finish at home is something I really wanted to do. When it comes to retirement, it’s quite daunting for a lot of people, but standing here right now, I’m really excited," she added.

After making her international debut in 2010, Alyssa Healy has represented Australia in 10 Tests, 123 ODIs, and 162 T20 Internationals. She has played nearly 300 international matches in her career, scoring over 7,000 runs across all formats. During her cricket career, Healy has been part of eight ICC World Cup-winning teams.
