Watch: "Second-division cricket" — Michael Vaughan roasts Pakistan's batting at Lord's

"Is it second division county cricket?" — Michael Vaughan tears into Pakistan's batting after their collapse to 110 all out at Lord's. Here's his full assessment

The former captain of the England side, Michael Vaughan, made a roasting remark against Pakistan’s batting performance during the second Test of the three-match series at Lord’s, where they were bundled out for just 110 runs in their first innings in reply to the home side’s 290.

The visitors, during their three-day innings defeat during the opening game at Leeds, were folded up for scores below 200 in both innings of the game. Despite the return of their captain and the veteran batter, Babar Azam, at Lord’s, they have experienced the same fate with the bat.

"Easiest batting lineup" — Vaughan questions if Pakistan are even a Test-standard side

Vaughan claimed that Pakistan have a bowling attack that could stand toe-to-toe against the stronger side, but their batting had slumped like a second-division county cricket team instead of qualifying as a Test team’s batting line-up.

Watch Vaughan's view on Pakistan's batting-

I’ll be brutally honest. The England bowlers aren’t being challenged at all. And this Pakistan batting lineup is possibly the easiest batting lineup I’ve seen in a long time to bowl to. And not only that, I think as a bowler, I think they’re all queuing up to bowl because they know there are wickets out there.Vaughan said on the BBC Test match special.

It’s so easy. They’re still doing a good job, and they’re still looking very threatening. And I think this bowling attack, the way they’re bowling, will challenge better batting lineups if they continue in this fashion. But this is Pakistan batting. Is it second division county cricket? He added.

Bowled out for 110 at Lord'sPakistan's batting collapse continues after their innings defeat in the opener

It was a nightmarish start for Pakistan in the series, who lost their opener Azan Awais on the very first ball. At Leeds, Abdullah Shafique smashed a fine half-century, but his 61-run knock was the highest score for the tourists in the entire game. They could make only 171 runs in the first innings, losing their last five wickets for 21 runs.

In the second innings, under the leadership of Salman Ali Agha, they were folded up for 135, reduced to 135 after being 73/4. They continued to lose wickets from both ends and failed to put pressure on the home side.

The same story continued at Lord’s. At one point, they were 91/4 in 30 overs before losing their last six wickets for just 19 runs in the next 44 deliveries. That would never be able to push them to win Tests away from home.
