The former chief selector of the Pakistan side, Muhammad Wasim, has dropped a bombshell on their left-handed opening batter, Imam-ul-Haq, for faking an injury in the past, recalling an old story from the second Test against England, played at Lord’s on August 29.

Imam didn’t bat in their first innings when they were folded up for just 110 runs in 37.2 overs. It was the third consecutive time in the series that the visitors struggled with the bat, despite Babar Azam’s presence.

Ex-chief selector claims Imam-ul-Haq's physio warned him before the 2022 Multan Test "injury"

The former chief selector of the Pakistan side revealed that during the Multan Test in 2022, their team physio warned him that he would go and feign an injury, which pushed the management to use the batter at number six or lower down the batting order.

“In the 2022 Multan Test, the physio warned me that he was going to feign an injury soon. And he did that. There was another player who did that, but I am not going to name him because he is currently part of the side.” Wasim revealed this in a video.

The video went viral as the fans started to question the performance of the southpaw, who didn’t bat at Lord’s for the first Test against England.

Imam-ul-Haq ruled out of Pakistan's first innings at Lord's with a calf strain amid fresh scrutiny

England posted a decent score of 290 runs in their first innings, thanks to the twin half-centuries from Jordan Cox and Jamie Smith, while their last-wicket partnership between Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue added 47 runs off 67 deliveries, stretching the score to nearly 290 at the end.

Pakistan, meanwhile, were bundled out for 110 runs in their first innings as only Azan Awais and Saud Shakeel made it into the double figures. The former clubbed 46 runs off 102 balls as Ollie Robinson ended with figures of 4/11 in 13 overs while Jofra Archer claimed 3/26 in 11.2 overs.
