When Razaullah was dismissed in the 34th over of the chase against England during the second round of the tri-series 2026 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan needed another 88 runs to win with just one wicket in hand as some fans started to leave the ground, and most of the world predicted an England win.
But Shadab Khan had other plans, as his partnership of unbeaten 89 runs for the final wicket with Haris Rauf, through his unbeaten century, shouldered them over the winning margin. He was given out leg before the stumps, and to everyone’s surprise, the review saved the right-handed batter.

Once the ninth wicket was down, Shadab started to free his arms and nailed the boundaries one after another. He shimmied down the track and nailed Gus Atkinson for a flurry of boundaries before bringing up his fifty with a massive six against Crocombe into the deep backward square leg region.

“I think you just go with the flow. When I made my comeback in the last series, there was an innings against Australia where I kept going until the end, but I couldn't win the match. So the idea was to keep believing. The conditions were a little different today, with dew coming in,” Shadab expressed in the post-match press conference.
How Pakistan completed the chase to beat England
Apart from Ben Duckett, most of the England batters failed to spend time in the middle. The left-handed opener, however, smashed 105 runs off 111 balls with the help of 10 boundaries and a pair of sixes. Sam Curran’s 42 runs and the contributions from the lower order shouldered them to 241 runs in the first innings.
In reply, Pakistan completed the chase by one wicket with 17 balls to spare. At number 8, Shadab’s century during the 89-run unbeaten stand for the tenth wicket completed the chase.
