Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won a nail-biting match against Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets on Apr 27, 2025, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in IPL 2025. However, the highlight of the match was the post-game verbal banter between Kohli and Rahul. These two fierce competitors in the cricketing world shared a light moment that goes to show their camaraderie extends well beyond the field. Rahul could not help but laugh as he said, “Good that he got out,” remarking on how he was relieved that Kohli didn’t finish the match on a note where he could celebrate with a viral “My ground” tribute with his teammates under the same emotional context which they did during the last Chinnaswamy Stadium face-off.

RCB further showcased their strength as the win stands as the team’s sixth consecutive away win. In the match where RCB needed to chase 163, they had a rough start, but Kohli’s performance alongside Krunal Pandya’s 73 off 47 calmed the storm. Mid-match Rahul and Kohli's testy exchange of words resulted in them being face to face near the stumps, but any unresolved fighting was ousted with laughter after the game. Kohli, after his “My Home” pose, pretended to perform the same gesture marking his home which made Rahul recount how grateful he was to escape having to deal with a raging Kohli

Rahul and Kohli's playful jab during the IPL 2025 season showed how close they actually are and how they respect one another. Kohli's joke about him after what he called a "dramatic celebration" and how Rahul joked with the reporters by saying "good that he got out", created a comedic and relaxed atmosphere while in tough competition. Their playful exchange, having come during a serious competitive environment , was a heartwarming moment and opportunity for sportmanship, which extolled a lesson of the human side of the game especially among teamates from rival teams.

RCB take step closer to playoffs qualification

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have reached the top of the tables in IPL 2025, winning 7 out of 10 games, and are the first team to exceed 14 points on the scoreboard for the season. RCB have 4 league matches remaining, and they only need to win 1 more game to secure a playoff spot. It would also take a monumental effort not to qualify given their current form, and therefore even winning one of their remaining games should surely see them qualify to the IPL 2025 knockout stage.

Winning 2 or more games from their remaining matches could then even see RCB finish in the top 2 and with an advantage in the playoffs. However, they could also still miss out depending on other results if they were to lose all 4 remaining matches. Thus, it will be important for RCB to maintain momentum going into the playoffs.

In a gripping clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a 4-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2025 Match 46 on April 27, 2025. Chasing 163 to win, RCB chased it down successfully in 18.3 overs with strong batting from Krunal Pandya, who was to score an impressive unbeaten 73 off 47 balls, whilst the DC batting was unable to handle the pressure. Let's look at the main causes of Delhi's defeat.

For starters, DC could not put together a match-winning total of 162/8 as they could not get significant partnerships, despite starts for KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs, and poor bowling while dew was present at a time during the batting innings that impacted the game and allowed RCB's Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli to dominate. RCB's batting had support from Kohli's 51 off 47 and a late flurry of runs from Tim David, who scored 19 off 5 balls, ensuring a steady rate of chase towards victory in an exciting match.

1. Insufficient Total on the Board

Delhi Capitals had a total of 162/8, but with the dew setting in during the second innings, 162 was an insufficient score. Axar Patel made comments after the match acknowledging they should've had another 10-15 runs, and it's true, RCB maybe didn't chase that target with ease, but with enough comfort that they had a comfortable 9 balls to spare at the end of the match.

2. Lack of Substantial Partnerships

Delhi Capitals had KL Rahul score a competitive 41 runs off 39 on his return to the lineup and made good starts with Tristan Stubbs, 34 runs off 18. The underlying issue was that DC players were unable to convert starts into significant partnerships, losing wickets at possible important times. In contrast, RCB made significant gains with a 100-run partnership off 81 deliveries from Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli, thwarting the DC bowling efforts throughout the innings.

3. Struggles with Bowling in Dew Conditions

The DC bowlers bowled alright in the first innings, but while they were able to hold down RCB in the first innings, the bowlers struggled to gain grip on the ball due to heavy dew in the second half of the match, and once the RCB batting group gained the ascendency, it became impossible because the RCB players, in particular, Krunal Pandya, belted the balls to the boundary very comfortably.

Virat Kohli mocked KL Rahul’s famous "Kantara" celebration after Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals by six wickets in IPL 2025. Chasing 163, RCB recovered from 26/3 thanks to a steady partnership between Krunal Pandya, who scored 73 off 47 balls, and Kohli, who made 51 off 47 balls. Earlier, DC posted 162/8 with KL Rahul scoring 41 and Tristan Stubbs adding a quick 34, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with 3/22 for RCB.

With this win, Bengaluru climbed to the top of the points table with 14 points, while Delhi slipped to fourth. In a lighthearted moment, Kohli recreated Rahul’s viral "Kantara" move, drawing a circle and stomping the ground to cheekily assert, “This is my ground,” at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The cheeky gesture was directed at Rahul's "This is my home ground" celebration early in the season, following his game-winning 93* to lead DC to victory at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Kohli and Pandya Guide RCB to Win, Kohli Teases Rahul's Celebration

RCB's pursuit did not begin on the right note, with three wickets lost early.Howeever, the ship was steadied by the cool head Pandya and the experienced Kohli. Pandya dominated in the partnership following Kohli's 45-ball half-century supported by several boundaries that helped revive RCB from the loss it had suffered initially. With the two's input of 119 runs, RCB was restored to its earlier form and the target was effortlessly achieved.

Despite Kohli’s dismissal after reaching his fifty, Pandya remained unscathed, finishing with a match-winning knock. His calm innings guaranteed RCB's triumph, by six wickets. The win brought RCB to the points table summit, 14 points from 10 games, while Delhi Capitals fell to fourth with 12 points from 9 matches.

Kohli demonstrated himself to be light-hearted after the win when he ridiculed Rahul's legendary "Kantara" dance victory celebration. He jokingly stamped his foot and drew a circle on the ground, saying, "This is my ground." The gesture was a light-hearted manner in which to show the friendly rivalry between the two Indian players. While they battle hard on the pitch, this light-hearted gesture showed their respect for one another and a light-hearted approach to competition.

Krunal Pandya (POTM): Krunal was really excited about the win and said it was nice to see all of his hard work pay off. Krunal said he knew what his job was; if early wickets came, he had to build partnerships. He said he spoke to Virat Kohli when he came out to bat during the chase and could not speak highly enough of him for helping him along. Krunal also mentioned how he improved his bowling this season, identifying how to change his pace and calculate the strengths of the batters.

Rajat Patidar (RCB Captain): Patidar described it as a complete team performance and put a spotlight on the bowlers, which limited Capitals to 162. Patidar also said that it was a great honor to lead RCB and learn from so many experienced players.

Virat Kohli (Orange Cap Holder): Kohli praised the partnership with Krunal after they had been put under pressure when RCB lost early wickets at 25/3 and mentioned the importance of building partnerships in T20s. Kohli said you have to read situations carefully and build innings, which is key to today's game. He also thanked Tim David and Romario Shepherd for providing the explosive lower-order firepower that helped RCB and also credited the bowling unit, especially Josh Hazlewood and Krunal.

Axar Patel (DC Captain): Axar thought they were 10-15 runs short. He said that they had lost wickets early when batting was tough, and then once it got dewy, it eased conditions. He also explained that losing wickets while trying to accelerate hurt them, and the decision to send KL Rahul to bat at No. 4 was based on matchups and the shorter boundary.

<![CDATA[IPL 2025: Who is Jacob Bethell playing making debut for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Delhi Capitals?]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-who-is-jacob-bethell-playing-making-debut-for-royal-challengers-bengaluru-against-delhi-capitals/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-who-is-jacob-bethell-playing-making-debut-for-royal-challengers-bengaluru-against-delhi-capitals/ Sun, 27 Apr 2025 14:32:14 GMT

In a crucial top-of-the-table match in IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have given a debut opportunity to England emerging star Jacob Bethell. The 21-year-old all-rounder was promoted to the playing XI from Delhi Capitals (DC) in place of RCB's regular opening partner Phil Salt, who was rested because of a fever. It's a massive opportunity for Bethell, who had been creating ripples in international cricket and now enters the Indian Premier League spotlight.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar confirmed at the toss that Salt's non-availability paved the way for Bethell, and the team opted to bowl first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With the winner of this game likely to reach atop the points table, it's a big-knock debut for the young Englishman.

A Rising Star: Jacob Bethell’s Journey to the IPL

Jacob Bethell is a left-handed batting all-rounder with clean striking, neat slow left-arm bowling, and incendiary fielding. He first came to the limelight when England played their Under-19 World Cup in 2022, impressing one and all with his unapologetic batting and chirpy fielding. His perennial run in the domestic circuit secured him a call to the senior England side at 20 in 2024. Since then, he has appeared across formats, representing England in three Tests, nine ODIs, and 10 T20Is.

Although his recent T20I series against India wasn't his best scoring only 23 runs in three games Bethell's natural talent is still present. In his T20 career to date, he has played 63 games, scoring 1127 runs at a rate of 24.50 and taking 11 wickets.

RCB proved their faith in Bethell by snapping him up during the 2025 mega auction for ₹2.60 crore. Now with Salt unavailable, Bethell can finally showcase his talent in the IPL.

High Stakes for RCB as Jacob Bethell Prepares for IPL Debut

Bethell's addition is at a pivotal moment for RCB. On the back of five consecutive away victories, RCB are in pursuit of a record sixth successive away win something no side has ever done in IPL history. With so much riding on the outcome, Bethell's brazen attitude may be just the thing that keeps RCB's run alive.

Coming up against a strong Delhi Capitals team bolstered by Faf du Plessis's return, Bethell will look to make his mark from day one and give back the faith reposed in him. The match on Sunday is set to be an exhilarating encounter, and for Jacob Bethell, the beginning of an unforgettable IPL stint.

While the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are strongly performing in the IPL 2025, English opener Phil Salt is one of their key players. However, he is missing RCB's IPL 2025 match against the hosts Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday evening (April 27). Here, we will know the reason for his absence from the game.

Before this 46th match of the IPL 2025, which Arun Jaitley Stadium is hosting, DC and RCB both have 12 points after eight and nine matches, respectively. Currently, the former RCB captain Virat Kohli is their leading run-scorer this season with 392 runs in nine innings with an average of 65.33 and a strike rate of 144.11, including five half-centuries.

IPL 2025: Phil Salt is the 2nd leading run-scorer for RCB

Despite some poor single-digit scores, another RCB opener Phil Salt is the second leading run-scorer for his team this season with 239 runs in nine innings. The English right-handed aggressive batter has an average of 26.55 and a strike rate of 168.30, including two half-centuries. In their match against the hosts Rajasthan Royals, while RCB won by nine wickets after successfully chasing the 174-run target in 17.3 overs after losing only one wicket, Salt won the Player of the Match for his fiery knock of 65 in 33 balls.

The RCB opening partners, Salt and Virat Kohli, have recorded four 50+ first-wicket partnerships this season, which is an important and powerful stat for a team. So, there is no doubt about the importance of Salt, despite scoring one double-digit score in his last three innings.

Phil Salt is down with a fever

During the DC vs RCB match in the 46th game of the IPL 2025, after the RCB captain Rajat Patidar chose to field first, he confirmed that Jacob Bethell was replacing Phil Salt. Soon, the RCB skipper clarified the reason for Salt's absence in the game. RCB captain claimed that Salt is down with a fever, so he was unavailable for the match.

Clash of Clans—that is how cricket fans are labeling Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, game 46 of IPL 2025. Along with Gujarat Titans, these two teams also are the top favorites to clinch a playoff spot with 12 points: Delhi Capitals currently at number 2 and RCB at the third place of the ladder. Former Indian cricketer and cricket pundit at present, Aakash Chopra said, "This could be the game of the tournament."

Delhi Capitals will get the home ground advantage as the match is set to be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium. But when Virat Kohli is on the pitch, the atmosphere of the gallery can change drastically. Chopra has shown little concern over Delhi Capitals tactical decisions. The Axar Patel-led side has fielded their team with fewer overseas players; the DC XI mostly relies on Indian talent.

Faf du Plessis is with the squad, and Jake Fraser-McGurk is also there, but DC has planned differently; they put Karun Nair as an opener with Abishek Porel. Nair's IPL 2025 debut innings was an absolute banger; his presence in the lineup provides DC an extra edge. Jake Fraser-McGurk's past IPL record is undoubtedly good, but this time he was too far from his best.

"I feel DC's batting is working thus far but will get stuck someday for sure. They have been doing a decent job, but I feel something might get stuck. It may be this game, or it might just be my thinking, and it might never happen. The home team has gone towards all made in India, although they finally decided to play Dushmantha Chameera. However, they are still playing with only three overseas—(Tristan) Stubbs, (Mitchell) Starc, and Dushmantha Chameera. I still don't know what the news is about Faf du Plessis. It doesn't seem like they wish to play Jake Fraser-McGurk currently. So what this team will do, I have no idea. Abishek Porel and Karun Nair might only be seen opening," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

In terms of the latest performances, DC and RCB are both on the same level; in the last 5 matches, both of the teams won 3 and lost 2. In game 24, IPL 2025, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Patel's Delhi Capitals proved better than Rajat Patidar's RCB by 6 wickets.

Chopra slightly optimistic about RCB

But it seems like Chopra was not bothered by the stats and numbers; he solely believed in how the teams were performing in the field. From his point of view, the commentator has said that RCB may have played better than DC in recent times.

"In whose favor are the scales tilted? Since they are on the road, I will say the scales are tilted towards RCB. However, this could be the game of the tournament. This game will be enjoyable," Chopra said.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are ready to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in an important IPL 2025 match on Sunday, April 27, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The points are not the only thing at stake, but also the bragging rights between two superstar batters, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

In their previous meeting earlier this month, Rahul lit up the Chinnaswamy Stadium with a sublime unbeaten 93 off 53 balls, guiding Delhi to a memorable six-wicket win. His "Kantara" celebration, signaling Bengaluru as his "home turf," quickly went viral. Now, it's Kohli's turn on his actual home ground, with RCB coach Sanjay Bangar teasing that Kohli might just deliver a fitting response.

“I think Virat would do it a little bit differently. I think he will show that, 'OK, that pavilion in which you're sitting, it's mine'. Who's the boss? Virat is the boss there,” Bangar said on Star Sports. With the Arun Jaitley Stadium housing the iconic ‘Virat Kohli Pavilion,’ Kohli certainly has the perfect stage set.

Both players have been in phenomenal touch this season. Kohli has hit 392 runs in nine games at 65.33 average and a strike rate of 144.11, closing on the Orange Cap. KL Rahul is not far behind either, with 323 runs from seven games, finding a balance between consistency and his newly found aggressive style.

Apart from the individual war, the game is of gigantic significance in the playoff situation. DC and RCB share 12 points each, with Delhi positioned above them in net run rate. Bengaluru can potentially become the league leaders with a win that would seal their playoff push. Fans can anticipate fireworks during the celebrations and with the bat as night falls in Delhi. The match between Kohli and Rahul is sure to be one of the highlights of the 2025 Indian Premier League, with pride, points, and a little playful retaliation on the line.
