New Zealand is looking to finish their tour of India with a stronger punch by injecting some big names back into their squad with the introduction of experienced players for the last two matches against India. Currently, New Zealand finds itself down 0-3 in the five-match T20I series, and now, more than ever, the team is looking to combine firepower and experience as they head into the T20 World Cup later this month. In an effort to help regain some of the lost momentum for New Zealand, all four of the senior members (Jimmy Neesham, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Seifert, and Finn Allen) have been added to the squad to help bring balance to the team and rebuild their confidence before the conclusion of the T20I series.

New Zealand had a very difficult time earlier in the series, with the Indian lineup showing strength with both bat and ball. New Zealand played without many of their higher-profile players in the first three games, which made it difficult for them to compete against the Indian team's depth and overall intensity of play. With the T20I series being decided already, now is the time to try and test different player combinations, get new players experience, and regain confidence before the World Cup.

Returning players add a blend of experience and aggression. Neesham provides tactical insight with both bat and ball; Ferguson, returning from injury, brings speed back into the bowling attack; Seifert continues to provide consistency through the middle order. Finn Allen will join for the fifth T20I in Thiruvananthapuram, giving New Zealand explosive starts with the bat. Allen's excellent Big Bash League season resulted in him scoring 466 runs at a strike rate of 184.18.

Boosting Batting Power for the End of Series

With the final two games to be played in Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram, New Zealand now possesses an array of players who, if played together correctly, will be able to challenge the perceived dominance of India. This combination of players with experience and players in form gives New Zealand great flexibility to experiment with combinations and strategies as they prepare for the T20 World Cup.

New Zealand has a strong desire to play without fear and therefore has a strong desire to regain respect and consistency through their performance in these next two matches. If successful, this would serve to lift the team's morale but also aid the coaching staff in finalizing team strategies and team lineups leading up to what is expected to be a high-pressure tournament in late 2021.

New Zealand's updated squad for final 2 T20Is vs India

Major League Cricket is getting a lot of attention as the tournament is getting exciting with every passing season. The 2025 season witnessed some entertaining contests. The tournament witnessed some brilliant individual performances from some of the best performers in T20 Cricket from across the globe. In this piece, we discuss three batters who showed their destructive hitting with the bat, which enabled them to register the highest strike rates in the season.

These batters batted with aggression, hitting some powerful shots, putting pressure on the opposition bowlers. The batters mentioned in the list possess different skill sets and techniques when it comes to their stroke play, but they entertained the crowds in a big way and also accelerated their strike rates, thus playing a key role for their respective sides. We discuss these batters in detail:

1.Finn Allen (San Francisco Unicorns, strike rate- 225.00 in 9 MLC games)

Finn Allen (San Francisco Unicorns)

The New Zealander is known for his powerful hitting abilities. Allen hit the ball powerfully down the ground. The 26-year-old cut the ball hard and played some powerful strokes with his back foot and front foot punches. Allen hit 35 sixes in the entire MLC season. that reflects the power the right-hander possesses.

The right-hander registered a strike rate of 225.0 in 9 MlC games this season, scoring 333 runs with a highest score of 151 in 9 matches. Allen pulled the ball and adjusted his stroke play well on different wickets accordingly. He hit some powerful shots on the up.

2.Donovan Ferriera(Texas Super Kings, strike rate-213.9 in10 MLC games)

Donovan Ferriera(Texas Super Kings)

The South African wasn't afraid of hitting the aerial shots, and his ability to take risks by playing shots during the middle overs highlighted his fearless attitude with the bat. The 26-year-old registered a strike rate of 213.9 in 10 MLC games this season, scoring 248 runs.

The wicket-keeper batter hit some powerful pull shots, and his flat-batted shots enabled him to clear the boundaries easily, thus helping him to accelerate his strike rate. Ferriera faced the spinners with an attacking mindset.

3.Shimron Hetmyer (Seattle Orcas, strike rate-209.87 in 8 MLC games)

Shimron Hetmyer (Seattle Orcas)

The West Indian cricketer can destroy any bowling lineup on his day, and Hetmyer was at his best when it came to his ability to take apart the opposition bowling lineups in the entire MLC season. The left-hander cracked the powerful shots with his strong bottom hand. The 28-year-old registered a strike rate of 209.87 in 8 MLC games this season, scoring 347 runs with 3 half-centuries to his name.

Hetmyer played some powerful drives and smashed the pacers with his trademark shots over deep square leg. The Guyanese cricketer shifts his front leg across, which enables him to hit the pacers by opening his arms.

In Match 23 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season, the Texas Super Kings gave a power-packed performance to trounce the Washington Freedom by 43 runs at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill. Rain dominated the game as the match was reduced to 5 overs per side. Texas, who were put into bat, showed their intent early, with Shubham Ranjane and Donovan Ferreira putting on an explosive display. Ranjane struck 39 off 14 balls, while Ferreira hammered 37 off just 9, guiding Texas to a daunting total of 87/2.

In reply, Washington Freedom struggled to get any momentum during their chase. Glenn Phillips tried to stabilize the innings with an 18 off 11 cameo, but the pressure of the scoreboard was big. Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Owen were unable to make their starts pay, and Texas bowlers, headed by Nandre Burger (2/12), kept tight lines.
Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein also bowled economically, picking up one wicket each, as Washington stumbled to 44/4 in their 5 overs. With this dominant win, Texas Super Kings moved up to second place on the points table with 12 points, overtaking Washington Freedom on Net Run Rate.

In Match 22 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament, Seattle Orcas surprised San Francisco Unicorns with an excellent all-round display at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill. Seattle decided to bowl first after winning the toss and supported their decision with a responsible effort with the ball, restricting a strong SF batting lineup to a below-par target.

San Francisco scored 168/5 off their 20 overs, with Sanjay Krishnamurthy making a quick 41 from 28 and Jake Fraser-McGurk contributing 35 from 22 balls. Chasing the target, Shimron Hetmyer cut a dash, hitting 78 from just 37 deliveries to lay the foundation for the chase. He was well-supported by Shayan Jahangir (36 from 27) as Seattle chased down the target with three balls in hand, winning by 4 wickets. With this victory, the Seattle Orcas strengthen their 4th position on the table with 6 points, while SF stayed atop despite losing their second game.
