Major League Cricket is getting a lot of attention as the tournament is getting exciting with every passing season. The 2025 season witnessed some entertaining contests. The tournament witnessed some brilliant individual performances from some of the best performers in T20 Cricket from across the globe. In this piece, we discuss three batters who showed their destructive hitting with the bat, which enabled them to register the highest strike rates in the season.

These batters batted with aggression, hitting some powerful shots, putting pressure on the opposition bowlers. The batters mentioned in the list possess different skill sets and techniques when it comes to their stroke play, but they entertained the crowds in a big way and also accelerated their strike rates, thus playing a key role for their respective sides. We discuss these batters in detail:

Finn Allen (San Francisco Unicorns)

The New Zealander is known for his powerful hitting abilities. Allen hit the ball powerfully down the ground. The 26-year-old cut the ball hard and played some powerful strokes with his back foot and front foot punches. Allen hit 35 sixes in the entire MLC season. that reflects the power the right-hander possesses.

<![CDATA[New Zealand announce squad for T20 tri-series aganist Zimbabwe and South Africa ]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/new-zealand-announce-squad-for-t20-tri-series-aganist-zimbabwe-and-south-africa/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/new-zealand-announce-squad-for-t20-tri-series-aganist-zimbabwe-and-south-africa/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 13:12:35 GMT

New Zealand has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series against South Africa and Zimbabwe, marking the start of their preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. One notable absence is former captain Kane Williamson, who has made himself unavailable due to commitments with Middlesex in the County Championship and the London Spirit in The Hundred. This decision opens the door for younger players to step up in his absence.

The tri-series will serve as the first major international assignment for Rob Walter, New Zealand's newly appointed head coach. Walter stressed the significance of the tour, especially with the World Cup approaching.
“I think we’ve got a really strong squad for this tour, and I’m looking forward to getting the team together and getting into the work. With the T20 World Cup around the corner, all of our upcoming series are critically important to our buildup. This series gives us the opportunity to test the breadth of our squad, explore different players, and potentially different combinations against some quality opposition,” Walter said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

A few regulars are missing from the tour. Lockie Ferguson has been rested, Ben Sears is out with a side strain, and Kyle Jamieson is unavailable due to personal reasons as he awaits the birth of his child.
Devon Conway and Mitch Hay are also not part of the squad. Wicketkeeping duties will be handled by Tim Seifert. The team will be led by Mitchell Santner, while Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra make their return after missing the March series against Pakistan due to IPL 2025 commitments. Pacer Adam Milne also returns for the first time since November.

Walter banks on experience and new faces

Matt Henry, who had been sidelined with a shoulder injury since the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, is back in the squad and will be eager to make an impact. Another exciting inclusion is 23-year-old uncapped batter Bevon Jacobs, who retains his place after touring with the side in Sri Lanka and is expected to make his debut during the series. “Adam’s a really skilled T20 bowler; he’s particularly proficient with the ball up front and brings that extra pace and bounce. With the likes of Lockie Ferguson, Ben Sears, and Kyle Jamieson out, it’s great to be able to lean on an experienced head in Adam,” Walter added.

This squad gives New Zealand an ideal chance to try new combinations and strengthen their bench strength ahead of the global tournament. With a good blend of experience and young talent, the BlackCaps will aim to fine-tune their plans under their new coach and captain.

New Zealand T20I squad for Zimbabwe and South Africa T20 Tri-Series 2025:
Mitchell Santner (C), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Bevon Jacobs, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Will O’Rourke, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Seifert, and Ish Sodhi.

In Match 16 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) series, the San Francisco Unicorns continued their undefeated run with a clinical 32-run win over the challenge of the Seattle Orcas at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. Batting first, SFU posted 176/8 in their full complement of 20 overs, with Romario Shepherd smashing the Unicorns lead with a brisk 56 runs from 31 balls and relying on a steady 52 runs from skipper Matthew Short. Jake Fraser-McGurk chipped in with a quick 34. Seattle's bowlers had some success—Harmeet Singh and Gerald Coetzee both picked up 3-wicket hauls but were unable to stem the run flow.

In reply, the Orcas never truly got going in their chase.
Shayan Jahangir top-scored with 40 off 22, but the middle order collapsed under scoreboard pressure. Shimron Hetmyer and David Warner added 30 and 23, respectively, but it wasn’t enough. Haris Rauf was once again the destroyer-in-chief with 4/32, while Matthew Short (3/12) and Romario Shepherd (2/16) sealed the game with brilliant spells. Seattle was bowled out for 144 in 18.2 overs.

With this win, the San Francisco Unicorns became the first team to qualify for the MLC 2025 playoffs, with an unblemished record of 6 wins from 6 games, and anchoring first on the table with 12 points.
Seattle Orcas, meanwhile, remain winless at the bottom.
