It was the first qualifier of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 between the Saint Lucia Kings and Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The Kings’ captain, David Wiese, has won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface which was anticipated to get slow in the second innings.

Saint Lucia made two changes in the playing eleven for the clash as Tymal Mills and Alzarri Joseph replaced Keon Gaston and Delano Potgeiter. On the other hand, Guyana dropped Shamar Joseph and brought back Hassan Khan for the contest.

Guyana Amazon Warriors bundled out for 157 in first innings

Ben McDermott clubbed a decent knock of 34 runs in 27 balls at a strike rate of 125.93 with the help of five boundaries and one six. But none of the batters played an exceptional knock in the middle order of the innings. Their wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, struggled for his 32 runs in 29 balls with just two fours.

However, the biggest fireworks in the batting department came from Romario Shepherd, who clubbed 21 runs in just eight balls, shouldering on two boundaries and one six, while Dwaine Pretorious nailed 17 runs to push Guyana to 157 in 19.5 overs.

Saint Lucia Kings fell short by 14 runs in chase

Kings hardly expected a sluggish batting performance against Guyana in the second innings. They found themselves toiling at 85/8 in 13.1 overs when a slight sunshine came through the batting line-up. Khary Piere nailed 50 runs in 29 balls at a strike rate of 172.41 with the help of three boundaries and five sixes.

Meanwhile, Tymal Mills drilled 30 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of four boundaries and one six as they got bundled out for 143 in 19.1 overs and fell short of the target by 14 runs. They will face the Trinbago Knight Riders in the second qualifier.

On the 30th encounter of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Guyana Amazon Warriors locked horns with the Barbados Royals at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The visiting captain, Rovman Powell, won the toss and decided to bowl first, having already been disqualified from the event.

Guyana made just one change to the playing eleven as Shamar Joseph came in place of Hasan Khan. For then, a victory was needed to get among the top two spots of the points table. For the Royals, Eathan Bosch was benched with Kofi James getting a chance on the side.

Shimron Hetmyer fire Guyana Amazon Warriors to 189/6

Guyana’s opening batter, Ben McDermott, continued to struggle in the tournament before the wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, nailed 31 runs in 19 balls with the help of two sixes and one boundary. Quentin Sampson and Shimron Hetmyer posted a 50-run stand for the third wicket as the former nailed 50 runs in 36 balls with three fours and four sixes.

Gudakesh Motie’s five-wicket haul completes 64-run victory

The Royals’ story of the entire tournament continued in the clash as they lost three wickets inside the first six overs of the innings. Sherfane Rutherford nailed 27 runs, but it took him 32 balls at a strike rate of under 85 with two over boundaries and one boundary.

The left-arm spinner, Gudakesh Motie, was excellent with his line and length and ended with a fine spell of 5/21 in 3.2 overs at an economy rate of 6.30 to bundle out the opponents for 125 in 18.2 overs. The 64-run win fired them to the second position in the points table.

On the 29th encounter of the 2025 season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Saint Lucia Kings locked horns with the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the penultimate encounter of the edition at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The visiting captain, David Wiese, won the toss and decided to bat first.

Saint Lucia had already qualified for the qualifier one stage, and that pushed them to rest their premier pacer, Alzarri Josep, with Keon Gaston coming into the side. On the other hand, for the Warriors, Shamarh Brooks was included in place of Keemo Paul in the eleven.

Roston Chase’s 90* shoulders Saint Lucia Kings to 185/4

It wasn’t a good start in the first four overs of the innings for the Kings, who lost their first two wickets. Ackeem Auguste nailed a fine knock of 50 runs in 30 balls at number three, with the help of three boundaries and three sixes. However, the biggest contribution to the innings came from their experienced campaigner, Roston Chase.

Chase remained unbeaten on 90 runs in 55 balls at a strike rate of 163.64, thanks to six boundaries and five sixes, while Delano Potgieter drilled 14 runs in 10 balls at a strike rate of 140. Kings pushed their way to 185/4 in their allotted 20 overs of the first innings.

Guyana Amazon Warriors earn qualifier’s ticket with successful chase on final ball

It was a decent start in the first five overs of the innings for the Guyana side as their young opening batter, Quentin Sampson, clubbed 76 runs in 39 balls at a strike rate of 194.87, with the help of seven boundaries and five sixes. On the other hand, their wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, nailed 44 runs in 34 balls at a strike rate of 129.41.

But their middle order didn’t stand up at all. They kept losing wickets regularly and soon reduced to 161/7 from 114/4. But with four needed on the final delivery of the innings, Dwaine Pretorius smacked the full toss over the rope for a six to complete the chase by two wickets and earn their spot.

On the 26th encounter of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, Guyana Amazon Warriors locked horns with the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The visiting captain, Imad Wasim, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface which was expected to help the spinners.

Guyana decided to retain the same playing eleven for the clash against Antigua, with Moeen Ali being slotted to open the batting. On the other hand, Barbuda made just one change to the side as Usama Mir replaced Obed McCoy in the eleven for this vital fixture.

Guyana Amazon Warriors fold up for 99 in first innings

The beginning of the batting, with 15 runs coming in 3.4 overs, was a prime example of how hard the deck was for the batsmen. The number three and wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, clubbed 26 runs in 14 deliveries at a strike rate of 185.71, thanks to three boundaries and one six as they suddenly found themselves 58/6 in less than 10 overs.

Jayden Seales got the right line and length on the surface with four wickets in 3.1 overs, while Usama Mir picked up three wickets in four overs. None of the lower-order batters for the Guyana side were able to stand as they were bundled out for 99 runs in 18.1 overs.

Amir Jangoo shoulders Antigua through with four wickets in hand

Barbuda also went through the same situation with the bat in the second innings. They were reduced to 24/4 in 4.1 overs as Shakib Al Hasan got dismissed for one run in two balls, while Karima Gore got a first-ball duck. That was a hard surface to bat on.

However, Amir Jangoo showed his patience and temperament, remaining undefeated on 51 runs in 57 deliveries at a strike rate of nearly 90 with the help of three boundaries and two sixes to carry them over the line by four wickets in hand in 19.1 overs.

During the 25th fixture of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, Guyana Amazon Warriors faced off against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The home captain, Imran Tahir, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slow surface, anticipating the batting to get easier in the chase.

The Warriors decided to retain the same playing eleven, while the Patriots made three changes to the side. Rilee Rossouw, Leniko Boucher, and Dominic Drakes came into the playing eleven in place of Alick Athanaze, Jyd Goolie, and Evin Lewis.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots struggle their way to 149/6

Apart from Mohammed Rizwan, who got the chance to open the batting in this clash for the Patriots, none of the away batters were able to contribute to the batting department individually. Pakistan’s ODI captain, who was dropped from the Asia Cup 2025 squad, smashed 85 runs in 62 balls at a strike rate of 137.10, thanks to eight boundaries and three sixes.

Guyana Amazon Warriors fail in nervy chase by five runs

It was the same situation in the batting order for the home side in the chase. The number three and wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, struggled for his 31 runs in 27 balls at a strike rate of 114.81, thanks to three boundaries. The middle order crashed and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

On the 23rd fixture of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Guyana Amazon Warriors met the Trinbago Knight Riders at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The home captain, Imran Tahir, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface that was offering spin on the slow track.

Guyana decided to make one solitary change to the playing eleven. Keemo Paul came into the side as Jediah Blades made his way out of the eleven. On the other hand, Keacy Carty came into the side for the Knight Riders with Terrance Hinds going out.

Trinbago Knight Riders push themselves to 167/5

It was another poor start for the visitors with the bat in the powerplay as they lost three wickets inside the first six overs of the innings. Nicholas Pooran, the captain and wicket-keeper batter, was the last man to get out for 13 runs. Darren Bravo and Carty posted a 50-run stand for the fourth wicket, but the former struggled for his 33 runs in 35 balls.

During the 21st encounter of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, Barbados Royals locked horns with Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The Imran Tahir-led side won the toss and decided to bowl first on a dry surface, expecting it to get better in the second innings.

The Royals made one change to the playing eleven with Shaqkere Perris getting out as the South Africa T20I star batter, Rassie van de Dussen, coming into the side. For the Amazon Warriors, Jediah Blades came into the side with Shamar Joseph getting dropped.

Rovman Powell’s unbeaten half-century smashes Barbados Royals to 165/6

It wasn’t a supreme start for the Barbados side in the first 12 overs of the first innings as they lost half of their side for just 69 runs. Only Brandon King was the contributor in the top order for smashing 39 runs in 27 balls with the help of six boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 144.44.

Guyana Amazon Warriors complete tense chase by four wickets

It was the same kind of start for the Guyana side, who lost four wickets in five overs for just 30 runs. Shai Hope, the wicket-keeper batter, remained undefeated by the end of the innings as he remained unbeaten on 62 runs in 49 balls at a strike rate of 126.53 with five boundaries and one six.

That was when Hope and Dwaine Pretorious posted an 89-run stand for the fifth wicket, with the latter clubbing 53 runs in 34 balls at a strike rate of 155.88, thanks to four over-boundaries and two fours. Quentin Sampson got 33 runs in 20 balls to complete the chase by four wickets with two balls to spare.

Hit-wickets are not new in the game of cricket, as generally the batters look to back away too much to get dismissed on hit-wickets against the pacers or the spinners. But the 17th fixture of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors saw the wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, getting dismissed tragically.

It was the opening ball of the 15th over of the first innings. Terrance Hinds went for a wide and short delivery, far away from the striking batter, Shai Hope. The right-handed batter looked to reverse sweep the short and wide delivery, looking to chase after it. It was a very wide delivery as the batter went after it for a big shot.

But he couldn’t get a touch of the ball and ended up dragging his bat on the follow-through back onto the stumps. It was the dismissal of the last recognized batter for the Guyana side for 39 runs in 29 balls at a strike rate of around 130, with the help of three boundaries and one six.

Guyana kept missing the timely big shots and losing wickets one after another. Apart from Hope, Dwayne Pretorious and Quentin Sampson crossed the 20-run mark as they ended with 163/9 in their allotted 20 overs of the first innings. The left-arm spinner, Akeal Hossein, opening the bowling, ended up with a fine figure of 3/27 in his four overs at an economy rate of 6.80.

Chasing the score, the 116-run opening stand between Colin Munro and Alex Hales provided them the best platform. The former got 52 runs in just 30 balls while the latter ended up with 74 runs in just 43 balls. This helped them chase the second innings target by six wickets with 16 balls to spare.

Knight Riders have now progressed to the top of the points table with five wins in six encounters, while Guyana stayed at the fourth rank in the table with just two wins in four games at a net run rate of +0.791.

During the 17th fixture of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Trinbago Knight Riders locked horns with the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. The home captain, Nicholas Pooran, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a fairly easy chasing ground.

Knight Riders decided to leave out Ali Khan for the successive clash as they brought back Terrance Hinds into the eleven. On the flip side of the coin, Guyana took the field with three changes- as Kevion Anderson, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Jediah Blades went to warm the benches as Shamar Joseph, Quentin Sampson, and Hasan Khan came into the team.

Guyana Amazon Warriors struggle in their first innings of 163/9

Guyana didn’t enjoy their opening power play with the bat. Inside the first six overs of the first innings, they lost three wickets while the wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, got 39 runs in 29 balls before he got hit-wicket off a wide delivery. They kept losing wickets regularly and never got the chance to fire up with the bat.

Akeal Hossein, opening the bowling, finished with a fine figure of 3/27 in four overs.

Trinbago Knight Riders’ strong opening partnership complete easy chase by six wickets

The 116-run opening partnership between Alex Hales and Colin Munro provided the home side a fine start in just 10.3 overs. The former drilled a fine knock of 74 runs in 43 deliveries at a strike rate of 172.09, with the help of three boundaries and seven sixes, while Munro cracked 52 runs in 30 balls with three sixes and six boundaries at a strike rate of 173.33.

Imran Tahir picked up three wickets in four balls to slow down the Knight Riders, but that wasn’t enough. Andre Russell remained unbeaten on 27 runs in 14 balls to complete the chase by six wickets with 16 balls to spare.

On the 13th fixture of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Saint Lucia Kings locked horns with the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. The touring captain, Imran Tahir, won the toss and decided to bat first on a dry surface.

Kings decided to retain the same playing eleven under the leadership of David Wiese, as Tabraiz Shamsi’s role was expected to get big on the slow surface. Guyana, on the other hand, made one change into the eleven as Jadiah Blades came into the eleven with Shamar Joseph getting a break.

Guyana Amazon Warriors fire to 202/6 thanks to Romario Shepherd’s 73*

Ben McDermott smashed 30 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of 166.67 at the opening position with the help of three boundaries and two sixes. But they kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the first innings to find themselves at 78/5 in 12.1 overs and looked to get bundled out very cheaply.
