India's exhilarating six-run win over England in the fifth and concluding Test at The Oval has created a considerable shake-up in the ICC Men's Test Player Rankings, with Indian pace pair Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna achieving career-best rankings.

Siraj, Player of the Match for winning spells in both innings, climbed twelve places to the 15th ranking in the ICC Test Bowler Rankings. The right-arm quick is now on a career-high 674 rating points, after his brilliant bowling was a vital element in India's series-clinching win.

Joining him in the rankings surge is Prasidh Krishna, whose eight wickets at The Oval lifted him 25 places to 59th, also a personal best. Krishna now holds 368 rating points, as he continues to establish himself in the longer format.

England's fast bowling unit also saw a boost despite the narrow defeat. Gus Atkinson, one of the breakout stars of the summer, has broken into the top 10 Test bowlers for the first time, thanks to his eight-wicket haul. Josh Tongue, another standout performer, has risen 14 places to 46th in the latest update.

On the batting front, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continues his meteoric rise. Fresh off a century in The Oval Test, Jaiswal has climbed three positions to break into the top five Test batters, now sitting on 792 rating points. England's Joe Root and Harry Brook remain locked in at the top two spots.

Elsewhere in the Test arena, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has entered the top 10 Test batters following his consistency in the Zimbabwe series, moving up four places. Teammate Matt Henry is reaping the rewards of his red-ball resurgence, climbing to 4th among Test bowlers with a career-best 817 rating points.

T20I Movement: Tim David, Saim Ayub, and Holder Climb

In the T20I rankings, Australia’s Tim David surged two places to 16th in the Men’s T20I Batting Rankings after a powerful century against the West Indies. Pakistan’s Saim Ayub also made a big leap, climbing 25 places to 37th following his dazzling knocks in the USA leg of the West Indies tour.

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has made a notable move in the bowling department, rising 23 places to joint-32nd alongside South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj. Holder's consistency in picking up key wickets has made him the highest wicket-taker for his side in the shortest format.

With the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship cycle gathering pace and planning and preparation ramping up for next year’s T20 World Cup, these moves come at a busy time in international cricket. As the red-ball and white-ball calendars continue to overlap, players making a mark in multiple formats are now being compensated accordingly, according to the latest ICC updates.

<![CDATA[Virat Kohli stands alone with 900+ ratings in all formats]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/virat-kohli-stands-alone-with-900-ratings-in-all-formats/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/virat-kohli-stands-alone-with-900-ratings-in-all-formats/ Wed, 16 Jul 2025 15:48:29 GMT

Following a huge update from the ICC, Virat Kohli’s highest T20I rating was adjusted from 897 to 909 points. Kohli's adjustment now sets him apart from the rest, with him being the only player in the history of cricket to accomplish a 900+ rating in all 3 formats tested, ODIs, and T20Is.

Kohli's T20I peak rating of 909 was during his glorious innings against England on September 7, 2014. Kohli was at his peak and wading through opposition bowlers with flair and consistency, wherever and however they bowled. Until the change, his T20I best a-listed 897, a brilliant mark in its own right, but now officially corrected, representing a true pinnacle of his short-format genius.

With this, Kohli’s highest ICC ratings now stand at:

 • Tests: 937 points
 • ODIs: 911 points
 • T20Is: 909 points

ALSO SEE: Who is better between Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Starc? Stats Comparison of two premier pacers

Virat Kohli is now the only player with 900+ ICC rating points in all three formats of the game

This achievement solidifies his place in history among the best all-format players the game has seen. No one, not even Sachin Tendulkar, AB de Villiers, or Steve Smith, has achieved 900+ across all formats.

Kohli has been a powerhouse in ODI and Test cricket, but he has also done so in T20I, displaying his class under pressure and strong chases and innings at intensity levels that many of us never thought were possible, but he always delivered when it mattered most for India, especially in ICC events and bilateral series against the best teams.

This update is really about the legacy, not just the numbers. He has proven himself to be a player for all formats. It doesn't matter if it was a classic straight drive in a Test match, a dominant cover drive in ODIs, or a cheeky flick for six in a T20; Kohli has shown all those different facets at the highest level for us to enjoy. With this revision, the GOAT debate may finally have a new benchmark: 900 across all formats and only one name next to it, Virat Kohli.

Rishabh Pant has climbed to sixth in the latest ICC Test Batting Rankings after his twin centuries in the Headingley Test against England. The dynamic Indian wicketkeeper-batter struck 134 and 118 in a memorable performance, becoming only the second gloveman to score two centuries in a single Test. His career-best rating of 801 points now places him just one spot behind his all-time high of No. 5, achieved in 2022.

Pant is now only 88 points shy of the top-ranked Joe Root, who retained his No. 1 position after scoring 28 and 53* in England’s record chase of 371. Root’s teammate Harry Brook remains second, followed by Kane Williamson in third.

Yashasvi Jaiswal held firm at No. 4, continuing as India’s highest-ranked batter, while Shubman Gill slipped to 21st. England’s Ben Duckett surged to a career-best No. 8 following his unbeaten 149, while Australia’s Travis Head re-entered the top 10.

<![CDATA[ Jadeja Drops Out of ICC Top 10 After Leeds Flop — Time for a Wake-Up Call?]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/jadeja-drops-out-of-icc-top-10-after-leeds-flop-time-for-a-wake-up-call/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/jadeja-drops-out-of-icc-top-10-after-leeds-flop-time-for-a-wake-up-call/ Wed, 25 Jun 2025 20:12:55 GMT

Ravindra Jadeja has slipped out of the top 10 in the latest ICC Test bowler rankings following a quiet outing in the Leeds Test against England. His performance — just one wicket for 172 runs across 27 overs didn’t help India’s cause as the visitors fell to a five-wicket defeat on Day 5. For someone expected to lead the spin attack, especially in English conditions with no other frontline spinner in the XI, the numbers were underwhelming.

Prior to the rankings update on June 25, Jadeja held the No.10 spot among Test bowlers. However, the lack of impact in Leeds saw him drop three places to 13th. While that’s a setback, the left-arm all-rounder continues to hold onto the No.1 position in the Test all-rounder rankings a title he’s retained through consistent performances over time. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah remains India’s bowling spearhead, climbing higher thanks to his first-innings five-wicket haul.

The game at Headingley highlighted not just England’s smart batting but also India’s missed opportunities with the ball and Jadeja’s lack of penetration was a major talking point. On a Day 5 pitch that was offering rough patches tailor-made for a left-arm spinner, Jadeja struggled to extract bite or control, leading to criticism from former cricketers and analysts alike.

Missed Opportunity in Leeds as Jadeja Fails to Capitalise on Conditions

Former India cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar didn’t hold back in his assessment of Jadeja’s effort. He pointed out that while the pitch wasn’t classic English seamer-friendly territory, it did offer something for the spinner especially the rough areas outside the right-hander’s off stump. Jadeja, according to Manjrekar, failed to target that consistently, particularly against Ben Duckett, who batted freely through the final session.

Manjrekar noted that Jadeja did eventually make some adjustments against Ben Stokes but felt it came too late. In high-pressure games and on final-day pitches, experience is expected to shine and that, many felt, was missing. With the second Test starting July 2 in Birmingham, all eyes will be on how Jadeja responds to the criticism and whether he can bounce back with a performance more worthy of his reputation.

<![CDATA[Sadia Iqbal brings glory to Pakistan with No.1 T20I bowling ranking ]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/sadia-iqbal-brings-glory-to-pakistan-with-no-1-t20i-bowling-ranking/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/sadia-iqbal-brings-glory-to-pakistan-with-no-1-t20i-bowling-ranking/ Tue, 27 May 2025 14:34:31 GMT

Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Women's T20I bowling rankings this week, solidifying her place among the best players in the game's shortest format, and Pakistan celebrated a momentous occasion in women's cricket.

The ICC released its latest rankings on Tuesday, and Iqbal’s rise to the summit was made possible after England’s ace spinner Sophie Ecclestone missed her team’s recent T20I series against the West Indies. As a result, Ecclestone dropped to fourth in the rankings, paving the way for Iqbal to move one place up and return to the position she briefly held during last year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Iqbal had a significant role in Pakistan’s World Cup campaign, with her precise, economical bowling troubling some of the world’s best batters. Her consistency and match-winning spells have now earned her the top spot again a moment of immense pride for Pakistan’s cricketing fraternity.

While Pakistan celebrated Iqbal’s achievement, several other players also made waves in the latest rankings. England pacer Lauren Bell surged 13 spots to reach sixth overall, following an impressive seven-wicket haul against the West Indies. Fellow England bowlers Linsey Smith (up 37 places to 41st) and Issy Wong (up 32 to joint-62nd) also enjoyed significant jumps thanks to their performances in the same series.

Matthews dazzles with the bat as Sadia Iqbal puts Pakistan on top in T20I bowling charts

In the batting department, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews continued her stunning run of form. After scoring 177 runs at an average of 88.50 in three matches in England, Matthews moved up two spots to become the second-ranked T20I batter, now just behind Australia’s Beth Mooney. Australia’s Tahlia McGrath dropped to third as Matthews closes in on the top.

Matthews was also named Player of the Series and further extended her lead at the top of the T20I all-rounder rankings, thanks to her all-around efforts that included picking up three wickets during the series. Among the England batters, Nat Sciver-Brunt climbed five places to ninth, Heather Knight moved up seven to joint-17th, and Sophia Dunkley improved by eight spots to joint-29th, all courtesy of solid contributions against the West Indies.

But Sadia Iqbal, a bowler whose composed manner and steady left-arm spin have contributed significantly to the team's success, deserves the headline for Pakistan. Her ascent back to the top of the rankings not only advances her own career but also highlights Pakistan's expanding influence in the world of women's cricket.

India's ODI vice-captain Shubman Gill replaced skipper Rohit Sharma to rise to the second spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings, just a week before the start of the 2025 Champions Trophy, and on the day of the final ODI of the three-match series against England in Ahmedabad.

Gill gained one place to move to second on the latest ODI batter rankings and is just five rating points adrift of Babar after back-to-back half-centuries against England, while Rohit, sitting third, is within 13 rating points of the century in Cuttack.

The crown of NO.1 ODI Ranking for Batters :

Gill is now just five rating points behind Pakistan star Babar Azam (786 points), who retained his top spot. Although Rohit slipped to number three, he isn’t too far from Gill and Babar either with his 773 points.

Furthermore, India skipper Rohit Sharma dropped down one spot into third with a rating of 773. It is worth noting that Rohit looked to be in exceptional form in the Cuttack clash, scoring an exceptional century. However, despite his knock, he dropped down one spot but is still within catching distance of Gill and Babar.

Interestingly, Shubman Gill is well on his way to taking the No. 1 crown from Babar Azam, considering that the star batter performed exceptionally well against England in the third ODI of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
