Harmanpreet Kaur's father, Harmander Singh Bhullar, was a former sportsman and later worked as a clerk at a local judicial court. He is one of the main reasons Kaur grew up and became one of the most successful cricketers in Indian cricket. During the semi-final of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, when India faced a stiff challenge from the Australia women's team, Kaur played an important knock.

"I thank God. My family, my country—they prayed day and night. I am very happy that we brought happiness to them," Harmanpreet said.

"You are right. It was a long, long journey. It was quite heartbreaking. At times, it felt like, why us? This is such a good team. I think it was destiny today. The struggle was destined so that we could become stronger. I have to give credit to the team; it was not possible without them."

Deepti Sharma was named as the best player of the tournament as she claimed a total of 22 wickets, the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

"As I said at the start, God has sent me here to do something nice, and that was reflected today. Very happy that we won, and I cannot express it in words. It was difficult, but I had confidence in myself—that if I could stay calm, I could achieve everything. My parents, my friends, my brother, and everyone supported me and helped me understand how to play," Varma said after the match.

"Honestly, this is feeling like a dream because we have not been able to come out of that emotion. Feeling really nice I could contribute this way in a World Cup final. We have always thought about how we can use the takeaways from every match. Thanks to them (the people), this would not have been possible. As a team, we are feeling very happy," Sharma said during the match presentation ceremony.

Second Innings:

The South Africa Women's team, with all of the experience in playing multiple World Cup final matches, started the run chase strongly. But the run-out of Tazmin Brits perhaps shifted the momentum of the match, and India came right back in the game. SA-W skipper remained on the track firm, scored a century, but lacked support. Without any significant partnership, South Africa gradually lost grip on the match and lost all of their wickets for only 246 runs. India successfully defended their total and won the 2025 World Cup final by 52 runs.

Tazmin Brits and South Africa Women's team captain Laura Wolvaardt were looking well set on the surface in Navi Mumbai, rotating strike with singles and big hits against the Indian bowling attack (IND-W vs SA-W). Brits was in a hurry to make runs at a good pace, as her strike rate was not impressive. Before the run-out, on multiple occasions, she looked in a hurry to steal runs by running between the wickets. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur set an attacking field, putting fielders close to the pitch to put more pressure on the batters. Behind the run-out, Kaur's brilliance as a captain was a perfect example.
