More than a month has gone by since the stampede at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium rocked the city during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2025 victory celebration. Though RCB and the Karnataka government had made early assurances of assistance and compensation, several families of the victims now claim they have been given no assistance.

The stampede happened on June 4 when huge crowds of people thronged around the stadium after RCB's championship-winning season. Poor crowd control and a lack of coordination between event management and security forces caused panic and chaos, with 11 fatalities and many injuries, as per reports.

In the initial aftermath, RCB had issued a public statement of sympathy and had announced a compensation package of ₹10 lakh per family. The Karnataka government had also offered ₹25 lakh per family. But now, as per recent reports, it is reported that several families state they are yet to receive any official communication or disbursement of funds.

RCB Yet to Fulfill Compensation Promise, Victims' Families Left in Limbo After Bengaluru Stampede

Some relatives, in an interview with local media, said that in spite of repeated follow-ups, they have not been made aware of timelines or procedures. This confusion has contributed to the anguish of bereaved families who are already struggling with legal and administrative complexities.

Sources in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) have indicated that talks were on, and RCB stated that compensation had been processed at official levels. Yet, no word has appeared publicly that funds have reached the recipients.

The accident has caused increasing public attention to the management of crowd safety in massive sporting events. Judicial proceedings are in motion, with the government conducting investigations into the breakdowns in planning and security. In the meantime, certain police officers and RCB staff on duty at the event have been suspended or questioned.

For the time being, the victim families remain in expectation of promises being kept. The stampede is still one of the darkest moments of recent IPL history, offering pressing questions over responsibility, readiness, and the necessity of swift relief efforts for victims.

Pandya awarded the man of the match for game changing bowling performance

Pandya's tight bowling helped Rajat Patidar's side to lift the trophy for the first time in the history of the tournament. The spinner got the man of the match award for his influential bowling in the middle overs. With his slow left-arm orthodox bowling, the star all-rounder did not allow Punjab Kings (PBKS) batters to push the paddle to match the required run rate. In his 4-over bowling spell, Pandya bagged a couple of wickets in exchange for only a 4.25 required run rate.

RCB, batting first, scored 190 in their 20 overs quota. Virat Kohli's 43 off 35 was the best among any other Bengaluru batter's that night. Cameos from Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone pushed the team's total to a respectable score. But if Krunal had not made that phenomenal bowling performance, the result of the match could've been different. 

The Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer's popularity seems to be surging with every passing day. In a recent video which has now gone viral, a fan, posing with a 'Sarpanch Sahab' poster received an autograph from Shreyas while he was exiting the stadium in a car. The car was stopped midway so the fan could get an autograph from his beloved cricketer. While Shreyas was signing the poster, the fan also captured the moment by taking a selfie with the PBKS skipper in the frame.

He stated that sufficient safety protocols weren't put in place and no one seemed to care enough for the fans' safety, who had waited to see their side win for the first time in 18 years.

Furthermore, in another tweet, he expressed his anguish, talking about the poor fans who turned up in huge numbers to catch a glimpse of their favorite team but never to return home. The former IPL chairman was gutted to hear the tragic news and pointed out the lack of respect the authorities have for the fans. He further stressed that the mental and physical well-being of the fans should be treated as a top priority while staging any sporting event.

In the meantime, the RCB bus parade tragedy has plunged Karnataka into political turmoil, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar face significant scrutiny, with opposition parties calling for their resignations. Both leaders traveled to Delhi to inform the Congress high command. Reports indicate that the Congress leadership has shown discontent with the explanations given, and the incident has revealed critical failures in coordination and decision-making by the government.

With widespread celebration reported around the country, one particular video stood out for all the wrong reasons. Deeply disturbing as it may seem, in a video that has now gone viral, a die-hard Kohli supporter was seen slitting his left hand with a pointed object. He used the blood coming out of his left hand as a tilak and applied it to Virat Kohli's poster.

After applying the "tilak" the fan burst into celebration and removed his shirt to show off his craze and love for the Chase master. The video instantly drew mixed reactions. Some questioned the absurdity of the lunatic act. While others pondered as to what extent the youth are willing to drag themselves to display their admiration for their idols.  

The excitement of the fans following RCB's historic title win had no bounds. Many fans had gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in astronomical numbers to catch a glimpse of their team. Following the stampede tragedy, FIRs were filed against RCB, event management company DNA, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for poor management, and the Karnataka state government as well.

Punjab Kings' campaign in the IPL 2025 might have come to an end in disappointment, but co-owner Preity Zinta preferred to look at the silver lining in a moving Instagram post posted three days after the final. Preity did not constrain herself to just commending the on-field performances. Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, blasted Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer for his cheap dismissal at the all-important final of IPL 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

When PBKS was looking under control, Iyer threw his wicket cheaply and went back to the dugout for a 2-ball one. Which later proved costly for the team when they lost by only 6 runs to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

He also told me that the repercussions of this are that you will be banned for two matches. What Shreyas did yesterday is not acceptable. There is no apology for that," Yograj Said.
