Following the tragic stampede incident that unfolded during RCB's bus parade event on June 4, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had no alternative but to spring into action. Their main objective is now directed towards devising sophisticated crowd control measures to bolster public safety during team victory parades. In response to this sensitive issue, the governing body has mobilized a three-member committee who are now tasked with revamping the existing guidelines aimed at minimizing stampede-like incidents from happening in the future.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has been appointed as the chairperson, while Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will be the treasurer. Rajeev Shukla, the BCCI vice-president, will be the third member in that committee.

BCCI issues a statement on appointing a three-member committee

On June 14, 2025, the BCCI released a statement pertaining to RCB's victory day celebrations that had gone horribly wrong. In a bid to eliminate such mishaps going forward, the Apex body confirmed the formation of a committee that will be tasked with formulating robust crowd control guidelines in the interest of public safety. Considering the urgency of the issue, it is believed that the committee will have to adhere to an aggressive timeline and will need to get the job done in the next 15 days.

"In light of the incident that occurred during the victory celebrations in Bengaluru, the Apex Council has decided to constitute a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future."

RCB's glory day turned into a shocking nightmare as 11 lives were lost and several others suffered significant injuries as the crowd went haywire to capture a glimpse of their superstars outside the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. To tackle this problem, the franchise announced a relief package of INR 10 lakhs to all the families who lost their loved ones during the stampede.

In the meantime, the BCCI also finalized the schedule for the Indian domestic season this year. The dates for India's 2025-26 domestic season were finalized during the Apex Council Meeting. The domestic season will kick off with the Duleep Trophy, which will begin on August 28, 2025. The Ranji season will be split into two phases; the first will commence on October 15 and the other will begin on November 19.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Head of Marketing, Nikhil Sosale, has been released on a temporary bail and has also been asked to surrender his passport. Sosale, along with two of his other associates from DNA Entertainment Network, named Kiran Kumar (Senior Event Manager) and Sunil Mathew (Vice President - Business Affairs), were arrested on June 6, at the Bangalore International Airport while trying to flee the city in the wake of the tragic stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Temporary respite for Sosale and his close aids

Sosale was taken into custody by the Central Crime Branch upon arrival at the airport during the early hours of Friday, June 6. On the same day, Sosale's attorney raised concerns regarding the legality of the arrest in the Karnataka High Court; however, the case was postponed until the beginning of the following week. The High Court listened to the arguments presented by both parties until Wednesday and delivered its ruling on Thursday afternoon, June 12.

The High Court granted interim bail to Sosale, Kiran, and Sunil on the condition that they surrender their passports. Justice SR Krishna Kumar directed the release of the three convicted men on June 12. Sandesh Chouta, a senior advocate representing Sosale, countered the allegations against him by saying that the police have no right to target employees, stating that there is no vicarious liability.

Contrary to Chouta's claims, advocate general Shashi Kiran Shetty, appearing for the state, put the blame back on RCB, stating that proper permissions for the victory parade were not obtained. The announcement was previously made in a now-deleted tweet from the RCB.

The serious matter has now gone to the High Court, where RCB, KSCA, and the State are all trading blame with one another. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), in its defence, said that they are only responsible for facilitating cricketing activities in the state of Karnataka and had no role to play in organizing the event. The governing body further added that the task force, responsible for maintaining security in the stadium premises, was not within their scope either.

In the upcoming 28th Apex Council Meeting, expected to take place on June 14, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to conduct an in-depth review of the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) used for conducting victory parades and revise them if necessary to bolster public safety. This development comes in the wake of RCB's tragic bus parade event that claimed the lives of 11 fans. It is believed that the matter will be taken seriously to ensure further mishaps like these are prevented in the future.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) brought an end to their 18-year-long title drought by dismissing Punjab Kings in an intense, nail-biting thriller by six runs. Celebrations broke through the entire nation, and fans from different pockets of the country turned on their celebration mode to cherish this once-in-a-lifetime moment. RCB's maiden title win got everyone over the moon. Even the authorities and the senior RCB officials couldn't resist their temptation and wanted to get out of their way to celebrate this grand moment.

Just 24 hours after RCB's maiden title win, the decision was made to hold a bus parade event in the heart of Bengaluru city. Despite receiving objections from the police, the RCB officials, in collaboration with the Karnataka government, gave a green signal for the event. At such short notice, fans gathered in astronomical numbers outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, and the security personnel were quickly overrun. Soon after, the inevitable had to happen as a chaotic situation developed and the police lost control of the mob, which later resulted in the unfortunate death of 11 civilians while leaving many seriously injured.

The BCCI, distancing itself from any direct participation in the event, has issued a strong condemnation of the incident. Secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized the necessity for accountability. In light of the urgency surrounding the issue, the Apex Council has prioritized the discussion on the IPL victory celebration and the formulation of guidelines as a key agenda item.

So what else is on the agenda for the BCCI?

Apart from the discussion on revised security measures for crown control, there are a few other non-pressing issues that are on the table for the BCCI to tackle. The governing body will need to take a final call on finalizing the venues for the New Zealand white-ball series, which will comprise five T20Is and three ODIs. In addition, the approval of the 2025-26 domestic season also needs to be finalized.

Moreover, the BCCI will also look into a complaint submitted by V. Agam Rao, President of the Karimnagar District Cricket Association, on matters of alleged mismanagement of cricket infrastructure funds in Telangana. Other miscellaneous initiatives include the revision of tournament allowance policies for staff, proposed changes to the Age Verification Programme (AVP), and the appointment of coaches for umpires and match referees.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) victory parade show goes horribly wrong on June 4. The triumph and euphoria of their maiden IPL title win evaporated in thin air the moment news of casualties outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium began trickling through. The authorities involving the RCB team management and the Karnataka State Government rushed to host the victory parade event, ignoring safety protocols. As a result, the security personnel were quickly overrun by the massive influx of people, and the situation escalated to a point where a stampede-like situation emerged, claiming the lives of 11 innocent fans.

The horrific tragedy has left the entire nation enraged. Many renowned voices in world cricket have issued a strong response to this tragic event and blamed the higher authorities for the mishap. Whereas others have also demanded an inquiry to understand how this event was allowed to be held in the first place.

Amidst the blame game, the former IPL chairman and CEO, Lalit Modi, made headlines by leaving his remarks on this disturbing incident. He pinned all the blame entirely on the RCB management for letting the situation spiral out of control.

Lalit Modi tweets on RCB victory parade stampede

While taking to his X (formerly Twitter account), Modi squarely blamed the RCB management and the government authorities for letting this disaster unfold on a day that should have been marked as one of the most memorable moments for the franchise. He stated that sufficient safety protocols weren't put in place and no one seemed to care enough for the fans' safety, who had waited to see their side win for the first time in 18 years.

"What is happening to the details about the stampede in Bengaluru after the win of @RCBTweets in the @IPL - There is so much mud slinging and finger pointing going on. The issue is simple. It should never have been allowed by the authorities if they had no proper arrangement, and secondly, the players and team management should have ensured the same is in place before participating in the so-called celebrations."

Furthermore, in another tweet, he expressed his anguish, talking about the poor fans who turned up in huge numbers to catch a glimpse of their favorite team but never to return home. The former IPL chairman was gutted to hear the tragic news and pointed out the lack of respect the authorities have for the fans. He further stressed that the mental and physical well-being of the fans should be treated as a top priority while staging any sporting event.

In the meantime, the RCB bus parade tragedy has plunged Karnataka into political turmoil, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar face significant scrutiny, with opposition parties calling for their resignations. Both leaders traveled to Delhi to inform the Congress high command. Reports indicate that the Congress leadership has shown discontent with the explanations given, and the incident has revealed critical failures in coordination and decision-making by the government.

A heartwarming video clip from a die-hard RCB supporter has gone viral. Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) maiden title win, a fan got his Continental GT 650 motorcycle customised with red and black colour patterns, a theme that perfectly aligns with RCB's jersey design. Apart from getting RCB's team jersey shades, customized stickers were applied to both sides of the bike, one of which featured a "Champions 2025" message sticker.

The video has quickly gone viral and has gained significant traction in a short space of time, with views exceeding the two million mark.

The entire country erupted in joy when RCB went past PBKS to narrowly defeat them in the IPL 2025 Final. For the first time, the cricketing community saw a new title winner. RCB recorded a stellar season in the 2025 season. The team did experience a few hiccups along the way, but peaked just at the right time to do the unthinkable.

It all came together for the Bengaluru-based franchise under the leadership of Rajat Patidar. Although he missed a few games due to injuries, Patidar's influence was present all around. Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli emerged as the team's top performer, amassing a total of 657 runs across 15 innings. He struck eight half-centuries, and his runs came at a strike rate of 144.71. In the bowling department, Australia's Josh Hazlewood excelled with the ball and became RCB's leading wicket-taker with 22 wickets to his name. Besides, he also proved to be a potent weapon in the death, giving hardly anything away. His economy rate of 8.77 RPO highlights his incredible skill set as a bowler.

However, under very unfortunate circumstances, RCB's triumph was swiftly overshadowed by a tragic event. The officials rushed to celebrate the franchise's maiden title glory, and in the process, a large crowd gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which quickly overwhelmed the security personnel, causing a chaotic situation to ensue, which later claimed the lives of 11 innocent fans.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Head of Marketing Nikhil Sosale finds himself in real hot water following RCB's bus parade event, which soon turned into a chaotic stampede, claiming the lives of 11 people while leaving many fatally injured. Authorities were quick to clamp down and arrested him along with two other RCB officials at the airport while he was trying to flee the city.

Sosale submits his plea to the Karnataka High Court

Now in police custody under further notice, Sosale seeks immediate relief from prosecution. In a bid to evade the wrath of the law enforcement authorities, Sosale has reached out to the Karnataka High Court questioning the legal grounds of his arrest. While submitting a plea to the High Court, Sosale termed his arrest illegal, arbitrary, and not in accordance with the law.

“I was arrested without any preliminary enquiry and without any material evidence against me.”

The stampede occurred as a significant number of people assembled close to the stadium, eagerly awaiting the celebration event, which resulted in disorder and misfortune. RCB's marketing head argues that the arrest did not involve any preliminary investigation and was done solely on the basis of political pressure. While the outcome of his plea is awaited, it appears highly unlikely that he will get an interim bail considering the atrocious severity of the incident.

Sosale was taken into police custody during the early hours of June 6, in the wake of the infamous stampede incident. While he may have been made the scapegoat in this entire fiasco, multiple FIRs have been issued against the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Some top officials from the association have handed down their resignations, citing moral responsibilities.

Meanwhile, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah issued a Magisterial probe into the stampede. The state administration has been instructed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the shortcomings that could have contributed to the tragedy. Further on, the chief police commissioner, who was responsible for overseeing the entire event, has been suspended indefinitely by the CM. The RCB bus parade day serves as a reminder of how a glory day for a cricket team can turn into a catastrophic nightmare if adequate measures are overlooked.

On June 3, 2025, history was created as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) went on to clinch their maiden IPL title, thus ending an 18-year-long drought and putting endless trolls to rest. RCB's ace batter Virat Kohli played an instrumental role in leading the franchise to glory, finishing as the top run-getter for RCB in the season, averaging nearly 54, and third overall, trailing Sai Sudharshan and Suryakumar Yadav.

The entire country went into celebration mode following RCB's euphoric title glory. Although the grand moment has now been overshadowed by the horrific stampede tragedy, which claimed the lives of 11 innocent fans, another disturbing video has surfaced of a fan performing a 'blood tilak' on Virat Kohli's poster by slitting his left hand.

The die-hard fan goes bonkers over RCB's win

With widespread celebration reported around the country, one particular video stood out for all the wrong reasons. Deeply disturbing as it may seem, in a video that has now gone viral, a die-hard Kohli supporter was seen slitting his left hand with a pointed object. He used the blood coming out of his left hand as a tilak and applied it to Virat Kohli's poster.

After applying the "tilak" the fan burst into celebration and removed his shirt to show off his craze and love for the Chase master. The video instantly drew mixed reactions. Some questioned the absurdity of the lunatic act. While others pondered as to what extent the youth are willing to drag themselves to display their admiration for their idols.

The excitement of the fans following RCB's historic title win had no bounds. Many fans had gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in astronomical numbers to catch a glimpse of their team. But in a matter of a few moments, the situation worsened rapidly, and a chaotic situation ensued, which resulted in the sad demise of 11 fans while leaving several others injured.

Following the stampede tragedy, FIRs were filed against RCB, event management company DNA, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for poor management, and the Karnataka state government as well.

The tragedy that has unfolded during RCB's victory parade event has left the entire country shaken. The officials who were responsible for overseeing the event have either been sacked or arrested. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has not evaded the wrath of the public, and reports have emerged that some of the top officials have already handed in their resignations on moral grounds.

Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jairam have submitted their resignation to KSCA president Raghuram Bhat following the horrific stampede incident that claimed the lives of 11 innocent fans. The resignation was made on the grounds of moral responsibility.

Shankar and Jairam conveyed their wish to resign by writing to KSCA on Friday night. The message reads as follows:

"Due to the unforeseen and unfortunate events that have unfolded in the last two days, and though our role was very limited, but owing moral responsibility, we wish to state that last night we have tendered our resignations to our respective posts as secretary and treasurer of the KSCA."

KSCA finds itself in troubled waters

Following the horrific stampede clash, the authorities reacted swiftly, clamping down on anyone who had acted irresponsibly. RCB's head of marketing department, Nikhil Sosal, was an obvious target, and he was arrested along with three other RCB officials at the airport. Sosal was cautioned by the Bangalore police not to conduct the parade at such short notice. However, he pressed the authorities, ignoring the safety precautions, which ultimately resulted in a huge catastrophe for the franchise.

An FIR was also lodged against KSCA. To counter it, KSCA submitted a writ petition, contending that the FIR filed against them was a "knee-jerk" response by the police, influenced by pressure from the state government.

SK Singh, the newly appointed police commissioner of the city, was also sacked from the post by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as he acted on the directives issued by the RCB head of marketing. KSCA, on the other hand, also had to disband some of the members of their security who were responsible for controlling the mob.

Amidst a heated backlash, KSCA has defended its stance by stating that the incident was triggered by an unprecedented influx of people and not by a specific individual or organisation. Besides, the association also added that the gate and crowd management were not within KSCA's scope, but fell under the jurisdiction of RCB, the event organisers, and the police.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) victory parade day goes horribly wrong on June 4, 2025. What was meant to be a day to celebrate RCB's historic IPL title win was soon marred by reports of many losing their lives and several others succumbing to serious injuries. RCB's victory parade was meant to start from Vidhan Soudha and end at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. But a massive crowd buildup near the stadium stretched the authorities thin as they failed to control the vast influx of fans entering the stadium.

Virat and Anushka in deep anguish following the horror stampede

In view of the grim incident, the RCB franchise issued a post on social media to acknowledge the loss of 11 people in the stampede and also issued heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. The post was later shared by Anushka Sharma on her social media account. Speaking of the tragic incident, both Anushka and Virat were shaken to the core as their heart went out to those who lost their lives in the victory parade stampede.

The statement reiterated the franchise's commitment to supporter safety while both Virat and Anushka conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the fallen souls who had turned up to get a taste of the historic moment. The entire RCB team was inside the stadium while carnage unfolded just outside the gates.

As soon as the team was made aware of the unfortunate happenings in the close vicinity, the parade was cut short. The tragedy at the RCB victory parade day has attracted the ire of the fans, with many blaming the authorities and the ruling Congress party for not being able to implement adequate crowd control measures. Even the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has not been able to evade blame, and there seems to be a growing amount of pressure on them for allowing the situation to escalate to a point where RCB's maiden title win has been overshadowed by the loss of people.

A magisterial inquiry has been launched into the tragic stampede near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL triumph celebrations on Wednesday, June 4. The stampede claimed the lives of 11 people and injured over 50. G. Jagadeesha, the Bengaluru Urban district Deputy Commissioner, heading the investigation, declared that notices will be served on several parties involved, such as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), RCB officials, event promoters, and City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda.

Jagadeesha personally went to the stadium on Thursday to inspect the ground and assured that a detailed inquiry is on the go. "I am launching the inquiry today and will not make any conclusions until facts are collected," he said in a statement to the media. He added that the probe would be finished within 15 days and a report would be given to the government. Jagadeesha also explained that he was not the officer who grants event permits, as this is the domain of the Police Commissioner.

The disaster has caused outrage among the public and political debate throughout the state. On this, the Karnataka State Government had previously declared a complete magisterial inquiry into the accident and vowed to prosecute those involved. The unruly crowd of an estimated thousand or more reportedly overwhelmed the capacity of the stadium, presenting a dangerous scenario that eventually degenerated into tragedy.

New SOPs for Crowd Control on the Way

State Home Minister G. Parameshwara, in his press statement after the incident, has assured that the government will introduce a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in order to better handle large public gatherings. The new norms will ensure safety for the future by improving the planning and crowd control.

Parameshwara promised the public that action would be taken strictly against the administrative deficiencies that caused the stampede.
