The Manchester Originals Women played a brilliant game at Trent Bridge and defeated the Trent Rockets Women by 10 wickets in the 20th game of 100B league. It was a one-sided game where the Originals looked stronger in both bowling and batting in this match.

The Rockets batted first but struggled to score runs. They ended with just 111 runs for 7 wickets in 100 balls. Their only good knock came from Nat Sciver-Brunt, who hit 34 runs from 26 balls. Bryony Smith also added 17 at the top, but the rest of the batters could not stay long at the crease. For the Originals, Sophie Ecclestone bowled well, taking 2 wickets for 12 runs, while Kathryn Bryce also impressed with 2 for 19. Tight bowling made sure the Rockets never built a big partnership.

Chasing the target of 112, the Originals openers made it look very easy. Captain Beth Mooney batted calmly and finished with 47 not out from 37 balls. At the other end, Kathryn Bryce was aggressive and scored a fine 61 not out from 45 balls. Together, they added 113 runs without losing a wicket and finished the game in just 82 balls. It was a complete performance and a very confident win for the Manchester Originals Women.

<![CDATA[Top 3 reasons why Trent Rockets Women lost to Manchester Originals Women in the Hundred Women's 2025 match 20]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-3-reasons-why-trent-rockets-women-lost-to-manchester-originals-women-in-the-hundred-women-s-2025-match-20/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-3-reasons-why-trent-rockets-women-lost-to-manchester-originals-women-in-the-hundred-women-s-2025-match-20/ Tue, 19 Aug 2025 23:11:05 GMT

In The Hundred Womenโ€™s 2025 Match 20, the Trent Rockets Women suffered a dominating defeat by 10 wickets to the Manchester Originals Women. Batting first, the Rockets women got to 111/7 in 100 balls. The top performers were Natalie Sciver 34 (26), Bryony Smith 17 (12), and Natasha Wraith 17 (14). Manchester Originalsโ€™ bowlers, led by Lauren Filer (3/23), Sophie Ecclestone (2/12), and Kathryn Bryce (2/19), kept them in check. In reply, Manchester Originals cruised to 113/0 in 82 balls, thanks to Kathryn Bryceโ€™s unbeaten 61 (45) and Beth Mooneyโ€™s 47* (37). Here are the main reasons why the Trent Rockets Women lost the match.

1. Standout all-round and tight bowling from Manchester Originals

Manchesterโ€™s bowling attack was spot on, with Lauren Filer (3/23) striking crucial blows up front. Sophie Ecclestone (2/12) and Kathryn Bryce (2/19) maintained pressure throughout, ensuring Rockets never settled into a rhythm.

2. Ineffective batting from Trent Rocketsโ€™ top order

Apart from Natalie Sciverโ€™s 34, no batter took responsibility to anchor the innings. With Smith and Wraith adding cameos but lacking partnerships, the Rockets stumbled to just 111/7, far below a winning total.

3. Dominant, unbroken opening chase

The Originals' openers didn't give the Rockets a sniff of victory when Kathryn Bryce's 61* and Beth Mooney's 47* meant they built an unbeaten 113-run partnership from just 82 balls, putting their team comfortably in charge, in particular given the Rockets' very poor effort in the bowling department.

Southern Brave Women bowled brilliantly and then chased down the target calmly to beat Trent Rockets by six wickets in The Hundred Womenโ€™s Competition at Trent Bridge. Captain Georgia Adams chose to bowl first, and it worked perfectly. Young Tilly Corteen-Coleman, just 17, struck twice in her first over, removing Bryony Smith (10) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (0) with help from a sharp stumping by Rhianna Southby.

Rockets captain Ashleigh Gardner tried to fight back with a quick 25 off 16 balls, but her team kept losing wickets. From 36-2 after the powerplay, they crumbled to 55-8. Corteen-Coleman finished with amazing figures of 4-13, while Lauren Bell took 3-16 and became the first woman to reach 50 wickets in The Hundred.

Alana King (24) and Kirstie Gordon (32) gave Rockets hope with a record 50-run stand for the last wicket, taking them to 106. In the chase, Brave lost Danni Wyatt-Hodge (4) and Laura Wolvaardt (1) early, but Maia Bouchier (43) and Sophie Devine kept things steady. Freya Kemp (14) added quick runs before Devineโ€™s unbeaten 41 sealed the win with two balls left. Corteen-Coleman called it a great team effort and said the squad is working hard to prove themselves this season.
