Trinbago Knight Riders win their 5th CPL title in 2025

The Imran Tahir-led Guayana won the toss and decided to bat first at the Providence Stadium. They didn’t get a good start with the bat. After a 28-run knock in 17 balls at a strike rate of 164.71 from Ben McDermott, their middle order fell very cheaply. Later, Iftikhar Ahmed smashed 30 runs in 27 balls.

Dwaine Pretorious clubbed 25 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of 138.89, with the help of two over boundaries and one six. Romario Shepherd nailed 13 runs in nine balls to post 130/8 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Trinbago completed the chase by 18 overs with three wickets in hand.

Sunil Narine smacked 22 runs in 17 balls while Kieron Pollard smacked 21 runs in 12 balls at a strike rate of 175. Akeal Hossen, later, finished the chase with an unbeaten 16 runs in seven balls. It was their fifth title in the tournament and the first one in the last five years, as Nicholas Poora’s golden form with four T20 titles in the last 24 months continued.

They defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final of CPL 2025 by 3 wickets and lifted the trophy. As the tournament concluded for this season, cricket fans are curious to know about the prize money structure and individual award winner names. Prize money distribution

Like every other T20 franchise league in the world, the winner of the Caribbean Premier League also claimed hefty prize money.As per reports, Trinbago Knight Riders, champion of CPL 2025, claims a whopping prize money of $1 million. Individual Award Winners

There are also some separate acknowledgments and rewards for individual brilliances. Like the experienced all-rounder Kieron Pollard. The 2025 edition of the Caribbean Premier League will be remembered for the former international's heroics. For TKR, he was not only consistent with the bat but also was in continuous form with his bowling and fielding efforts as well.

Another veteran, Imaran Tahir, the leader of Amazon Warriors, also stunned everyone by his spin bowling performances. Tahir emerged as the highest wicket taker of the tournament with 23 wickets. In 13 matches and 11 innings, Pollard scored 383 runs and claimed a wicket, keeping the economy rate below 9. Akeal Hosein, with his spin bowling abilities, clinched two dangerous batters—Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer—to keep the Amazon Warriors' total under control.

After five weeks of exciting cricket in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the two champion sides, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders, locked horns in the final of the tournament at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The Imran Tahir-led Guyana won the toss and decided to bat first.

The Warriors made two changes to the eleven with Shamar Joseph and Iftikhar Ahmed coming back into the playing eleven in place of Shamarh Brooks and Hassan Khan. For the Knight Riders, they retained the same playing eleven from last season.

Guyana Amazon Warriors struggle to post 130/8

Guyana’s opening batter, Ben McDermott, smashed a decent knock of 28 runs in 17 deliveries at a strike rate of 164.71 with the help of three boundaries and a couple of over boundaries. However, their middle order couldn’t contribute at all in the fixture.

Iftikhar drilled 30 runs in 27 balls at a strike rate of 111.11 with three boundaries and one six, while Dwaine Pretorious smashed 25 runs in 18 balls, shouldering on two over boundaries and one four. Guyana posted 130/8 in their allotted 20 overs of the innings as Saurabh Netravalkar ended with figures of 3/25 in four overs. Usman Tariq was excellent with 1/18 in four overs.

Trinbago Knight Riders earn fifth CPL title with 2025 season’s victory

Colin Munro took the Knight Riders off to a flying start with 23 runs in 15 balls, but as is the case with Guyana, the Knight Riders’ middle order couldn’t contribute either in that department. Sunil Narine played a decent 22-run knock in 17 balls.

But the veteran Kieron Pollard has clubbed an impressive knock of 21 runs in 12 balls at a strike rate of 175 with three over boundaries, while Akeal Hossein’s 16* completed the successful chase by three wickets with two overs to spare.

The David Wiese-led side won the toss and decided to bowl first, expecting the surface to get better in the second innings for batting. 

Both sides went with an unchanged playing eleven for the contest. The eyes were on the Knight Riders, who came into the clash after a comfortable victory against the Antigua Barbuda and Falcons during the eliminator, while Saint Lucia Kings faced a defeat against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the first qualifier. 

Trinbago Knight Riders cream their way to 194/4

After Colin Munro went back to the dressing room early in the innings, the top order took full responsibility in the batting department. Alex Hales remained undefeated on 58 runs in 44 balls at a strike rate of 131.20 with the help of two boundaries and four sixes. Their captain, Nicholas Pooran, clubbed 50 runs in 32 balls at a strike rate of 156.25, shouldering on five boundaries, fours, and sixes.

Kieron Pollard nailed 35 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 134.62 with four sixes. On the other hand, Andre Russell smacked 28 runs in 12 balls, with the help of three sixes and one four, to post 194/4 in their allotted 20 overs of the first innings.

Saint Lucia Kings struggle to face 56-run defeat

The 59-run opening stand of the Kings in nine overs laid a decent platform for the chase, but that wasn’t going to be enough in the second innings. The wicket-keeper opening batter, Tim Seifert, scored 57 runs in 40 deliveries at a strike rate of 142.50.

However, their middle order didn’t click at all in the batting department and got restricted to 138/8 in their 20 overs. Usman Tariq picked up four wickets while Sunil Narine ended with figures of 3/18 in four overs.

Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slow surface. 

Trinidad made a solitary change in the playing eleven with Darren Bravo coming in place of Joshua Da Silva. On the other hand, Antigua made two changes to the playing eleven as Rahkeem Cornwall and Obed McCoy came into the eleven in place of Shamar Springer and Salman Irshad.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons stretch their way to 166/8

Even though Barbuda didn’t get a good start for the opening stand, he 108-run second wicket stand between Amir Jangoo and Andries Gous stabilized their innings. The former smashed 55 runs in 49 balls, with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes, while Gous clubbed 61 runs in 45 balls at a strike rate of 135.56, thanks to five boundaries and three sixes.

However, the middle order didn’t contribute much with the bat before Shakib Al Hasan got 18 runs off Sunil Narine’s last over to remain unbeaten on 26 runs in nine balls to shoulder the Antigua side to 166/8 in their allotted 20 overs of the first inning.

Nicholas Pooran’s 90* completes Trinbago Knight Riders’ comfortable chase

Colin Munro returned to the dressing room for 14 runs in 12 balls. Later, the captain and wicket-keeper batter, Nicholas Pooran, and Alex Hales celebrated a fine stand of 143 runs for the second wicket to complete the chase by nine wickets and 15 balls to spare.

Hales smashed an undefeated 54 runs in 40 balls at a strike rate of 135, with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes. Pooran fetched an excellent knock of 90 runs in 53 balls at a strike rate of 169.81, shouldering on three boundaries and eight sixes.

The home captain, Rovman Powell, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slow and low surface. 

Royals made two changes to the playing eleven as Shaqkere Parris came into the opening position, along with Zishan Motara, into the side. On the other hand, Knight Riders also made two changes to the team as Joshua Da Silva, the wicket-keeper batter, replaced Darren Bravo, and Saurabh Netravalkar came in place of Nathan Edwards.

Trinbago Knight Riders struggle their way to 166/8

The top order of the Trinbago side struggled immensely in the first eight overs as their captain, Nicholas Pooran, the number four batter, also smashed just 45 runs in 44 deliveries at a strike rate of 102.27 with the help of three boundaries and one six. Kieron Pollard, who had been in incredible form this season, drilled a decent knock off 36 runs in 25 balls at a strike rate of 144.

Barbados Royals complete chase by seven wickets in 19 overs

The 87-run partnership for the opening wicket between the wicket-keeper opening batter, Quinton de Kock, and Kadeem Alleyene, laid a good platform for the chase in the second innings. The South African batter nailed 55 runs in 35 balls with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes. But they still found themselves under pressure.

That was when Sherfane Rutherford and captain Powell stood up with an unbeaten stand of 56 runs for the fourth wicket to complete the chase by seven wickets and six balls to spare.

Trinbago Knight Riders push themselves to 167/5

It was another poor start for the visitors with the bat in the powerplay as they lost three wickets inside the first six overs of the innings. Nicholas Pooran, the captain and wicket-keeper batter, was the last man to get out for 13 runs. Darren Bravo and Carty posted a 50-run stand for the fourth wicket, but the former struggled for his 33 runs in 35 balls.

Guyana Amazon Warriors complete nervy chase by three wickets

In three overs, Guyana lost two wickets, both openers, before Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer celebrated an 83-run stand for the third wicket. The wicket-keeper batter smashed 53 runs in 46 balls with the help of three boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 115.22, while Hetmyer missed the milestone by one run in 30 balls with four sixes and two fours.

Dwaine Pretorious clubbed an unbeaten knock of 26 runs in 14 balls at a strike rate of 185.71 as they completed the nervy chase in the second innings by three wickets on the penultimate delivery.

The former West Indies T20I captain, Kieron Pollard, has been in tremendous form during the ongoing 2025 season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the Trinbago Knight Riders. He was in action again in the vital encounter against the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

When Pollard walked into the middle in the 16th over of the innings in the CPL 2025. The right-handed batter smashed the fourth delivery of the 17th over for a boundary before repeating the same on the next delivery. However, they were under the 130-run mark even after 18 overs, and that laid extreme pressure on the visiting side.

Pollard clubbed Dwaine Pretorious for two successive sixes into the mid-wicket region on the penultimate and last ball of the 18th over. He fired up against the Guyana captain, Imran Tahir, to whack him for a four on the second ball of the 19th over before hoisting it high and over the long-on region for an over boundary. On the third and fourth deliveries of the last over, he displayed the same feat.

Pollard now has overall smacked 14145 runs in 637 innings of the shortest format at an average of 31.85 and a strike rate of 151.26, thanks to 66 half-centuries and one century at the best score of 104 runs. Overall, in his CPL 2025, he is the fourth leading run-getter with 291 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 185.35.

Despite the knock, Trinbago wasn’t able to earn the victory as Guyana started their home leg with a nervy penultimate ball finish with three wickets in hand. Even after the loss, Trinbago stay at the top position of the points table with six wins in nine games for 12 points at a net run rate of +0.106.

The centurion from the previous contest., Tim Seifert, clubbed 36 runs in just 19 deliveries, thanks to six boundaries and one six at a strike rate of nearly 190. At number three, Ackeem Auguste dashed 28 runs in 18 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six.

Roston Chase and Tim David remained unbeaten for a 39-run stand in less than four overs as they completed the run chase by seven wickets and with nearly nine overs to spare.

On the 19th encounter of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Trinbago Knight Riders locked horns with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. The visiting captain, Jason Holder, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface where chasing was expected to be easy. 

For the Knight Riders, Darren Bravo, Nathan Edwards, and Usman Tariq came into the playing eleven, with Keacy Carty, Terrance Hinds, and McKenny Clarke getting out of the eleven. For the Patriots, they made one solitary chance with Abbas Afridi getting a break to see Ashmead Nedd coming into the eleven.

Kieron Pollard’s 65 shoulders Trinbago Knight Riders to 179/8

At 27/2 on the opening ball of the fifth over, the Knight Riders looked to be struggling in the first innings. At number three, Bravo continued to struggle and ended with just 21 runs in 25 balls with one four and one six at a strike rate of 84. But the game changed, thanks to the 90-run fourth-wicket stand between Kieron Pollard and Nicholas Pooran.

Pollard pumped four sixes on the last over of Waqar Salamkheli and finished with a fine knock of 65 runs in 29 balls at a strike rate of 224.14, thanks to two boundaries and eight sixes. On the other hand, Pooran drilled 52 runs in 38 balls at a strike rate of 136.84 with four boundaries and three sixes to post 179/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots falls short in chase by 12 runs 

For the away side, the opening stand of 96 runs in 10.4 overs between Evin Lewis and Andre Fletcher provided them a fine start to the target in the second innings. The former clubbed 42 runs in 25 balls at a strike rate of 168 with one boundary and four sixes, while Fletcher smacked 67 runs in 54 balls at a strike rate of 124.07.

However, their middle order couldn’t contribute at all in the chase. They lost six wickets for just 48 runs in eight overs and ended with 167 runs, collecting a defeat by 12 runs.
