India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, finally found his best touch during the second T20I against New Zealand and lit up the stadium with a fluent half-century. Full of confidence and playing without any inhibition, Surya reached his fifty in just 23 balls to remind everyone why he is considered one of the most dangerous batters going around in the shortest format. His innings came at a pretty crucial juncture for India while chasing a massive target of 209 runs.

It was an extra special knock for Surya, as it ended his long dry run in T20Is for the Indian skipper. Surya had gone 463 days without a fifty for India in the format, despite featuring in 21 T20Is in 2025. His last half-century was against Bangladesh in October 2024, and since then, runs had been scarce. In this match, however, he seemed completely in control, hitting six fours and two sixes while anchoring the chase.

Before Suryakumar stole the spotlight, Ishan Kishan had already put India on the front foot with a blazing start. The left-handed opener smashed 76 runs off just 32 balls and reached his fifty in only 21 deliveries. His attacking intent in the powerplay always kept the New Zealand bowlers under pressure and gave India the early momentum required in the steep run chase.

Fans erupt after Suryakumar Yadav ends fifty drought

As soon as Suryakumar Yadav reached his half-century, fans reacted on Twitter with appreciation. Many also hailed his return to form after a long gap, sending positive messages on his innings. Supporters also backed the Indian captain to continue scoring runs and lead the team strongly in the matches ahead.

Meanwhile, India won the second T20I against New Zealand by 7 wickets and took a 2–0 lead in the series. Chasing 209 runs in Raipur on Friday (January 23), Suryakumar Yadav played a match-winning knock of 82* off 37 balls. Ishan Kishan scored 76 off 32 balls, while Shivam Dube added a quick 36 off 18 balls to help India seal the win comfortably.

The South Africans pulled off a stunning 30-run win over India in a low-scoring thriller at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Chasing a modest target of 124 runs, India witnessed a dramatic batting collapse and were bowled out for just 93 on the third day. This was also South Africa's first Test triumph on Indian soil in 15 years.

India won their ninth Asia Cup 2025 trophy after defeating Pakistan in a thrilling final on Sunday in Dubai, completing a 3-0 sweep over Salman Agha’s team in this edition of the tournament. While India’s previous two wins were comfortable, this final went down to the wire, with Pakistan having the upper hand at several stages. Fans were kept on the edge of their seats as the match swung back and forth before India finally sealed the victory.

India’s chase of 147 began disastrously. The team lost in-form Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and captain Suryakumar Yadav for just 20 runs in four overs, as Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi cleverly used varied deliveries to put India under early pressure. Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma then steadied the innings with a 57-run partnership off 50 balls before Samson was caught at point off Abrar Ahmed. Varma had a great time at the crease, managing his 50 off 41 balls and another important partnership with Shivam Dube. Dube struck 33 off 21 balls, which made the target 17 runs from 12 balls. Then in the last over, with five balls remaining and eight runs to get, Varma hit a six down the leg side off Haris Rauf, ensuring the victory for India. So he was really the man for the occasion, as he scored his 53-ball knock of 69 not out, leading India to a fantastic

Earlier, Pakistan’s innings started strongly. Sahibzada Farhan continued his dominance over Jasprit Bumrah, scoring 57, while Fakhar Zaman added 46, as Pakistan ended the powerplay at 45/0. Farhan and Zaman attacked the Indian spinners with three sixes and a four in the next 3.3 overs. But Pakistan soon collapsed under pressure. Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Farhan for 57, and Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel struck key blows in the 13th and 14th overs. In the 17th over, Kuldeep took three wickets while conceding just one run, completely derailing Pakistan’s innings. Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up the tail, and Pakistan was all out for 146 after losing nine wickets for just 33 runs. Handing India a thrilling five-wicket win and their ninth Asia Cup title. <![CDATA['Miyan Magic' – Fans React as Mohammad Siraj Becomes Leading Wicket-Taker in Ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/miyan-magic-fans-react-as-mohammad-siraj-becomes-leading-wicket-taker-in-ongoing-anderson-tendulkar-trophy/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/miyan-magic-fans-react-as-mohammad-siraj-becomes-leading-wicket-taker-in-ongoing-anderson-tendulkar-trophy/ Sun, 03 Aug 2025 17:37:32 GMT

Mohammad Siraj is establishing himself as the mainstay of India's bowling attack in the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, as the leading wicket taker with 20 total wickets. His latest four-wicket haul at The Oval busted open the middle order of an England batting lineup that was thriving and gave the beleaguered Indian side some hope of coming back from the dead in a tense Test and pushed the England innings forward with guesswork. Siraj's figures of 4/86 should underline that he has dismissed big names such as Joe Root, Ollie Pope, Jacob Bethell, and Harry Brook, which once again shows he is a player for the big occasion. Siraj now leads for wickets so far in the series, ahead of Josh Tongue (19), Ben Stokes (17), Jasprit Bumrah (14), and Akash Deep (12). Aside from the numbers, his phenomenal energy, the ability to take wickets at long lengths, and proud emotional celebrations have already endeared Siraj to us as the anthem of India’s pace attack on this tour.

Siraj bowled more overs than any other bowler in the five-match series—a great testament to his fitness and ability to manage his workload. Whether flat tracks or seam-friendly conditions, the right-arm quick has consistently provided breakthroughs and interventions that India needed the most. To think we went from a support bowler to leading the attack in Bumrah's absence shows the amazing progression. As the series unfolds, social media users across the world consider it "Miyan Magic" and celebrate his presence and impact on the team's performance and morale, not only as a skill with the ball but also with intensity and delightful exuberance.
