On the day before the second Test at Edgbaston, everyone is waiting to see if Jasprit Bumrah will play. He’s known for his fast, fiery bowling, but there’s still no clear answer about whether he’ll be in the team. Captain Shubman Gill said Bumrah is available, but didn’t share the final team, keeping fans guessing.
“We’ll decide about Bumrah tonight. We’ll also choose the spinner after checking the pitch,” Gill told reporters on Tuesday. “He’s ready to play. We’re trying to pick a team that can take 20 wickets and score runs.”
India have tough choices to make after their loss in Leeds, where they had a good chance but couldn’t finish the job and failed to bowl England out in the last innings. Bumrah’s workload is also a concern, so they might have to change the bowling attack. “It’s not easy,” Gill said. “But we’ve picked the best players. Our other bowlers are good too. We have a strong group.”

The Edgbaston pitch is adding to the confusion. It looks green on top, but there’s a dry layer underneath, which could help spinners later on. India are thinking about playing two spinnersa choice they didn’t make in Leeds and now feel might have cost them. “We thought an extra spinner would have helped slow the runs in the later innings,” Gill admitted.

While India are still deciding, England have kept things simple. They named the same team that won in Leeds. Led by Ben Stokes, their batting includes Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Harry Brook. Jamie Smith stays in as wicketkeeper. Their bowling attack also remains the same with Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, and Shoaib Bashir all ready for English conditions.
