ENG vs IND 2025: ‘I didn’t celebrate because…’- Jasprit Bumrah drops bombshell after Lord’s fifer
Jasprit Bumrah drops bombshell on revealing why he didn't celebrate his five-wicket haul at Lord's.

On the occasion of India’s premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, registering his name on the honours board to celebrate a special five-wicket haul, many congratulated him after the end of the first innings, but the pacer didn’t look to be celebrating his achievement. It was his partner with the ball, Mohammed Siraj, who insisted that he raise the ball and show it to the fans.
Jasprit Bumrah picked up only one five-wicket haul at Lord’s during the opening day of the third Test against England, On that occasion, he went past the defense of the current number one Test batter, Harry Brook, with a nip backer, as the batter had no idea of how to deal with the cracking delivery. But Bumrah revealed a surprising reason behind denying celebration for his five-wicket haul.
“I didn’t celebrate there because I was tired. I am not 21-22 years old, and I will jump around. I wanted to go back to my mark and bowl again.” The pacer revealed at the press conference after the end of the second day’s play of the third red-ball fixture at Lord’s.

Bumrah was always going to be a key member of the touring side on the flat and dry surface under the heat. He started the second morning beautifully with an in-swinging delivery to go past Ben Stokes, the England captain’s defense, who had no clue of how the ball jagged back from that length. On his very next over of the morning, he broke the stumps of centurion Joe Root, who got an inside edge on to the stumps looking to drive the pacer.
Chris Woakes was the next man to come under Bumrah’s wicket tally. The right-handed batter, who celebrated a famous century at this ground against India in 2018 to bail them out of trouble, got an outside edge. The umpire didn’t rule it out at the start, but the successful review from Shubman Gill helped Bumrah get his fourth wicket. The fifth one came in the form of Jofra Archer.
Bumrah finished with figures of 5/74 in 27 overs at an economy rate of 2.7. He now has pocketed 215 red-ball scalps in 47 Tests at an average of under 20 and a strike rate of 42.11, thanks to 15 five-wicket hauls.
