While Washington Sundar took the big wicket of Ben Stokes in the last innings of the Birmingham Test, many fans are deservingly crediting Ravindra Jadeja for that crucial wicket.

Visitors India got a big wicket to end the thrilling rain-affected first session of the crucial Birmingham Test, where Washington Sundar dismissed English captain Ben Stokes, as India are four wickets away from a historic Test victory at Edgbaston. While Sundar took that big wicket, many fans are deservingly crediting Ravindra Jadeja for that crucial wicket.
India dominate in Birmingham Test
Hosts England are already out of the Birmingham Test, as they have a mammoth 608-run target in the fourth innings. While England are leading this five-match Test series by 1-0, drawing this second Test will be enough for the hosts to boost their morale. However, Indian bowlers have never shown mercy in the Birmingham Test, even on this tough bowling pitch, where only the new ball bowlers have put some challenges, apart from the effective pitch roughness just for the final day of the Test match.
Starting the last day of the Test match at 72/3, the hosts England lost both overnight batters early, as Akash Deep dismissed Ollie Pope (24) and first innings centurion Harry Brook (23). Hosts were struggling at 83/5 from where English captain Ben Stokes and wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith set up a desperate fightback with a challenging partnership. However, Indian bowlers always asked tough questions to both batters.
Why did Ravindra Jadeja get credit for Ben Stokes' wicket?
It seemed like Ravindra Jadeja would deliver the last over before the lunch break of the final day of the Birmingham Test. While there were hardly two minutes left for the session at the start of Jadeja's over, he did the stunning thing that he has hardly any competition in international cricket. Jadeja completed that over in just 100 seconds, as the visitors just managed to buy another over for the session, and it resulted in terrible for the hosts.
It was Sundar's second over of the innings. After having a good appeal on Ben Stokes with correctly not going for the only remaining review, the off-spinner successfully trapped the English captain for an lbw on the next delivery. Although stunned-Stokes went for the review, it was plumb, as the session finally ended mid of the over due to that wicket. Stokes was out 33 runs, while he had a 70-run partnership with Smith for the sixth wicket. At lunch, England were struggling at 153/6.
Half credit to Ravindra Jadeja 🤣🤣🤣

Jadeja's role in Stokes dismissal is yet another of his great assets. To the Indian test team, Ravindra Jadeja has been may more valuable over the years than the credit he gets. One of the all the greats.

The small things that can change a Test match is massive 👌 pic.twitter.com/JtDOQvywWk
Ravindra Jadeja bowled his entire over in 90 seconds when there were just 110-120 seconds left for lunch when he began his over. That enabled India to bowl one more over before lunch in which Sundar trapped Stokes plumb in front. That is as much Jadeja's wicket as it is Sundar's.
