Delhi Capitals lost to Chennai Super Kings in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday (May 10). This was their seventh loss of IPL 2023 and that put their end of the season games capability in risk. They needed to win all their excess matches to arrive at 16 places and come to the best four. However, that will no longer be the case, and DC will be able to reach 14 points even if they win all of their remaining matches.
Strangely, the team led by David Warner will still be able to make the playoffs. Nonetheless, for that to occur, consequences of certain matches need to turn out well for them. To reach 14 points, they must first win their remaining three games, two against the Punjab Kings and one against the Chennai Super Kings. DC can only afford to tie Sunrisers Hyderabad on 14 points in order for both teams to qualify for the playoffs given their current NRR.

DC also has the space for LSG to prevail over KKR and MI in the game. LSG will finish with 15 points and advance to the playoffs as third place in this scenario. DC and SRH will win with 14 points each, while LSG will win with 13 points if the previous results hold true. MI, RR, KKR, RCB and PBKS all will wind up on 12 focuses. DC and SRH both have a chance of making the playoffs in this scenario.
DC likewise have the space for LSG to dominate the match against KKR and MI. LSG will finish with 15 points and advance to the playoffs as third place in this scenario. Here, the team with a higher NRR will advance to the playoffs if DC and SRH finish with 14 points each.
