Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal has made an appeal to the IPL governing body to shift the DC vs. Mumbai Indians (DC vs. MI) match to a different city that currently is not under rain threats. The match is scheduled to take place at Wankhede Stadium on May 21 (today).
This match is highly crucial for both teams, as Delhi and Mumbai are fighting for the fourth place in the round of four. MI has a slight one-point advantage over Capitals; one win can prove enough for them to qualify for the next round.
On the other hand, after facing a series of defeats, Delhi Capitals needs to win this match at any cost to remain relevant in the contest. If rain spoils the party, then each team will get 1 point; that may not be helpful enough for DC.

A washout would result in shared points, leaving MI with 15 points and DC with 14. Keeping the importance of the match in mind, Jindal requested IPL authority to shift the match to another venue with no possibilities of rain. According to the weather forecast, Mumbai can receive a good amount of rain from today.
Thus, Jindal said in the mail to the IPL officials, "The forecast in Mumbai is for heavy rains, and there is a strong likelihood that the game will be washed out. Just as the game between RCB and SRH has been moved out of Bengaluru in the quest for consistency and in the interest of the league, it is my request that tomorrow’s game also be moved to a different location."
On a previous occasion, Kolkata Knight Riders had to suffer the same situation. In a do-or-die match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, rain interrupted, and the match didn't take place as per schedule. The match was a must-win for Kolkata, and RCB, with a points advantage, positioned themselves in the top half of the ladder with comfort. After the scheduled time for the match was over, one point was credited to both teams' accounts, which had no such significance for KKR because they needed a win against RCB. Without the desired result, they find themselves out of the play-offs contention.
