Muhammad Waseem and Chloe Tryon made the task easy for ICC officials when they were about to select the best performers in the month of May. United Arab Emirates batter Waseem has won the ICC Men's Cricket Player of the Month award, and South Africa's Tyron claimed the same award in women's cricket.

Waseem, in recent times, made headlines for his match-saving battings on multiple occasions. The batter has now claimed the award twice due to a well-performed batting display in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 and a home T20I series against Bangladesh. The UAE had a memorable T20I series against Bangladesh, where they defeated the Tiger brigade to win the bilateral twenty-twenty tournament.

In this series, Muhammad Waseem played a crucial role for the home side, scoring 169 runs in five ODIs batting. During the middle overs, when the games were in a vital position, the batter tried to pull out his best performances. and scored 54 and 82 in the first two matches opening the batting. Previously, in April 2024, I got this ICC player of the match award for the first time in my career.
