Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has said that Shreyas Iyer may not get a place in the Test team anytime soon, even though he’s been in great form across formats lately.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra explained, “Shreyas Iyer won’t get a chance right now.
There are many players still waiting. Karun Nair just got his opportunity, Sarfaraz Khan hasn’t had a proper run, and Dhruv Jurel is also waiting. If Iyer isn’t even ahead in the queue, how can he be picked?”

Sarfaraz Khan Keeps Pressure On with Consistent Red-Ball Performances

Chopra admitted that Iyer has been doing well he had a strong first-class season, played brilliantly in the IPL by leading Punjab Kings to the final, and was India’s top scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. But Chopra believes that Test cricket demands patience. “He’s doing everything right, but in red-ball cricket, chances take time. His turn will come, he just has to wait a little,” he said.

At the same time, Sarfaraz Khan is making the most of his chances.
After scoring three fifties and a 150 in just six Tests, he impressed with a 92 for India A against the England Lions.
