In the current championship, India is still going strong. After India’s defeat to Temba Bavuma’s South Africa, their prospects appeared bleak, but on November 2, 2022, at the storied Adelaide Oval, they silenced their critics by winning a thriller against Shakib’s Bangladesh. Bangladesh and India were tied on points before this match, but the men in blue have moved ahead of their neighbours and managed to stay in contention after the match.

The Rain Gods intervened in the game, but Rohit Sharma and his team prevailed to win by 5 runs. India posted a respectable total of 184 at the end of their 20 overs, losing 6 wickets, relying on the heroics of vice captain KL Rahul and former captain. Litton Das looked completely different when he started the Bangladesh innings, smashing the Indian bowlers for fun while doing so.

He certainly posed a threat to India’s chances, but Bangladesh’s situation deteriorated after he left.

It is interesting to note that Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan has now opened up about the defeat, claiming that India’s superstar Virat Kohli faked a throw while his team was batting. Additionally, Nurul voiced his displeasure with the umpires for not considering the situation. Kohli can be seen relaying a throw from speedster Arshdeep Singh, who was stationed at the deep, in the seventh over.

This event went unnoticed. Interestingly, Chris Brown and umpire Marais Erasmus did not notice it. Section 41.5 of the law that applies to cricket says that  “deliberate distraction, deception or obstruction of [the] batter” is illegal. If something like this happens on the field, the umpires call it a dead ball.
