There have been some great bowling efforts in the Indian Premier League. Bowlers’ skills have authored some great game endings, from hat-tricks to the point where one delivery transformed the course of the match.
However, there have been times when people have had to confront the wrath of the willow and sweat it out to stop the run flow. Today, we’ll look at incidents the bowlers on this list would like to forget. So here are the players that had the most costly spell in an IPL inning:
Basil Thampi, an Indian fast bowler, holds the dubious distinction of being the bowler with the most runs conceded in the IPL. The quick bowler is at the top of the list of undesirables. In the 2018 season, he let up 70 runs in four overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore on their home field while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. His GDP rate was 17.50.
Gujarat Titans bowler Yash Dayal is the most recent addition to the not-so-pleaded list. He gave up 69 runs at 17.25 per over against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It includes a 31-run victory in which KKR’s Rinku Singh hit him for five consecutive sixes. His spell was the most expensive in the current 2023 edition.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, an Afghan cricketer, has established himself as a successful performer in T20 cricket. However, he holds the record for the second most expensive bowling spell in IPL history. Mujeeb struggled to stop the run flow when playing for Kings XI Punjab in the 2019 season, conceding 66 runs in four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ishant Sharma, an Indian fast bowler, possesses an IPL record that he would rather forget. He had a rough outing against the Chennai Super Kings while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2013 season.
After struggling with the ball throughout the game, Sharma conceded 25 runs in the over for 66 runs in his four overs, making it one of the most expensive periods in IPL history.
