The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) has established a financial aid program that provides monthly support to former state women cricketers who do not qualify for Board of Control for Cricket in India pension benefits.

The decision was approved during the association’s managing committee meeting, marking a significant step toward recognising the contributions of women players who represented the state in earlier eras without adequate financial backing or institutional support. The initiative will start on April 1 and will operate through an application-based system which will enable deserving candidates to receive benefits despite missing historical documentation.

The scheme provides former state international players with monthly payments of INR 12,500. Domestic cricketers will receive financial assistance which varies between INR 6,000 and INR 10,000 based on their playing time and the number of matches they participated in under the Women’s Cricket Association of India (WCAI) or the BCCI structure. Beneficiaries who reach the age of 75 will get an additional monthly payment of INR 7,500.

MPCA unveils initiative to boost women’s cricket development

The move matches welfare programs which state associations across the United States have established to support their former women cricketers. MPCA president Mahanaryaman Scindia explained that the scheme exists to recognize players who dedicated themselves to the sport during periods of restricted opportunities and reduced recognition. The association has updated pension systems for all former male players and umpires together with raising match payments and honorariums for officials and support personnel.
