KL Rahul finally produced a powerful batting performance, as he slammed his sixth IPL century during the home IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday afternoon. His batting has helped Delhi Capitals (DC) to set a giant target for the unbeaten table topper Punjab Kings. 

After DC captain Axar Patel chose to bat first, while the opener Pathum Nissanka (11) fell early, the other opener KL Rahul and the no.3 batter Nitish Rana set a record partnership for the franchise. They had a 210-run partnership for the second wicket. While Rana (91) unfortunately missed his century, Rahul completed his sixth IPL century in 47 balls. 

After completing 50 runs in 26 balls, Rahul took 21 more balls to complete his second IPL hundred for Delhi Capitals. It was his fastest IPL century, as Rahul's previous fastest IPL century was in 56 balls against Mumbai Indians in Brabourne Stadium in the 2022 edition. 

Rahul became the second Indian batter and fourth overall batter to record at least six IPL centuries. The other three names in this list are Virat Kohli (8 centuries), Jos Buttler (7 centuries), and Chris Gayle (6 centuries). 

Rahul ended the innings with 152 not out off 67 balls with 16 fours and nine sixes. While he recorded the third-highest score in IPL history, Delhi Capitals managed the first innings total of 264/2 in 20 overs. While it was the highest total for DC, breaking their previous record total of 257/4, it was the seventh highest total in IPL history. Fans can't stop praising the experienced Indian batter for producing one of his unforgettable T20 knocks.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener and wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has played a valuable 50+ knock in the away IPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians (MI), as the CSK are looking for a big total. While the CSK fans have experienced another quality batting performance from Samson, they are highly impressed with this performance. 

The right-handed opening batter Sanju Samson is among the top five leading run-scorers in the IPL 2026. Although he was disappointed with single-digit scores in four innings this season, the opener scored 115 not out and 48 against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, as CSK won both those matches. 

While most of the other CSK batters are struggling, Samson has somehow produced some strong batting performances. Despite more than 50 percent of performances being below par, the wicketkeeper-batter has still impressed, especially while he is currently in dream batting form. 

CSK and MI both searching for crucial win

While both the franchises hold the record for most IPL title successes with five times each, both CSK and MI have struggled early this season. Both teams are playing the seventh match of the season, as both have four points with two wins and four losses. While MI are in the seventh position, CSK are in the eighth position in the IPL 2026 points table. So, both teams are eyeing a crucial win on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium, through which they can fight back for the top four places.

Sanju Samson completes 50 in 26 balls

While most of the CSK batters have failed to capitalise their starts after being forced to bat first in the away match against MI, opener Sanju Samson has taken the role to guide the team to a big total. With the help of six fours and three sixes, Samson completed his 50 runs in 26 balls. His powerful batting has guided the CSK to a strong first innings total, as the visitors have already scored 181/6 in 20 overs. At this moment, Samson has scored 78 not out off 43 balls with eight fours and four sixes, as he is the only batter to reach the 25-run mark in the innings.

While SunRisers Hyderabad were struggling after the powerplay in their home IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday night, Heinrich Klaasen became a saviour of the franchise. The former South African cricketer has earned the Orange Cap while playing a crucial knock in the match. 

It is the 27th match of the IPL 2026, as Hyderabad is hosting its third game of the season. It is a crucial game for both SRH and CSK, who are battling with four points each after five matches, with two wins and three losses. A win means returning to the stronger challenging position in the early mid-season.   

After Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss, he sent the hosts SRH to bat first. SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head set a strong start for the hosts, setting a perfect platform for a big total.

SRH get stormy start before losing wickets regularly

However, in the last two balls of the powerplay, SRH lost back-to-back wickets, finishing the powerplay with 75 for 2. Opener Abhishek Sharma slammed a 15-ball fifty with the help of five fours and four sixes. Sharma scored 59 off 22 balls with six fours and four sixes, while his opening partner Travis Head was dismissed for 23 off 20 balls with three fours and one six.  

After the powerplay, SRH were losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Heinrich Klaasen played a crucial knock that guided the hosts to the challenging first innings total. In fact, the former Proteas star was the only other name apart from both openers to reach the 20-run mark in that innings.

After Salt's dismissal, RCB captain Rajat Patidar produced a stormy batting of a 17-ball half-century, as he scored 53 off 20 balls with four fours and five sixes. Meanwhile, Kohli had another crucial 65-run partnership with the RCB skipper for the second wicket, where the opener scored 50 off 38 balls (five fours and one six) before losing his wicket. 

Although Kohli's innings seemed very slow, the right-handed opening batter focused on rotating the strike more and providing solid support to the other end of the powerful top-order batters. His presence has confidently moved the RCB to a strong first innings total in the game. While some cricket fans are appreciating his performance, some have found an opportunity to troll the legendary batter.

Sanju Samson returned with a magnificent century in a match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at Chepauk in IPL 2026. After struggling for form in the first three games, he answered his critics with this performance. It was his first century as CSK batsman, which turned out to be the first hundred in the ongoing IPL 2026. It was also the fourth IPL century in his career.

Samson played strokes all around the wicket and did not allow the bowlers any time to settle down. Samson hit one of the most memorable shots, a huge six off Kuldeep Yadav over deep extra cover. Along with Mhatre, he helped CSK reach 130/1 in 13 overs. The duo made sure the run rate stayed high in the middle overs.

Samson reached his century in style in the 18th over off T. Natarajan. It was a yorker on the leg stump, and he closed the bat face to get a leading edge that ran through third man for a boundary. The shot looked a bit lucky, but it took him to his hundred in 52 balls. It was his fourth IPL ton and a perfect comeback after missing out in the first three matches.

At the time of writing, Delhi Capitals are yet to begin their chase, needing 213 runs from 120 balls against Chennai Super Kings.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured another thrilling victory, which came on the final ball of the match against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). After the victory, LSG captain Rishabh Pant posted a team celebration video on his social media account to reflect the successful teamwork. 

Eden Gardens in Kolkata hosted the KKR vs LSG IPL 2026 match on Thursday night (April 9). After KKR were sent to bat first, they were restricted to 181/4 in 20 overs. After a sixer on the fifth ball of the final over, LSG snatched a bye run to secure a stunning three-wicket victory and add two more crucial points. 

Starting the season with a six-wicket defeat, LSG claimed a five-wicket win with one ball remaining against SunRisers Hyderabad. Now, in their third match of the season, LSG just managed to claim a three-wicket win on the final ball thriller. After LSG snatched another thrilling away win, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant credited the teamwork with a funny team celebration video.

Chasing down the 182-run target, the visitors LSG were once struggling at 128/7 in 16 overs, as they needed 54 runs in the last four overs. Moreover, the set and dangerous Ayush Badoni was already dismissed for 54 runs off 34 balls, while Mukul Choudhary (2 off 6 balls) and Avesh Khan (yet to face a ball) were both new batters. 

According to the match prediction at the slog overs of the second innings, LSG had only a three percent chance of winning, as there were no set batters, and their required run rate climbed to over 14. While many gave up on that game, the drama just started to make the finish memorable. 

Mukul Choudhary shines with match-winning performance

The 21-year-old Mukul Choudhary, who made his IPL debut this season, didn't give up, as his powerful batting secured a stunning victory for LSG. With the help of two fours and seven sixes, Mukul scored 54 not out off 27 balls. More importantly, the right-handed batter kept the match alive for his team and perfectly finished the game to prove his nerve-holding ability. 

After snatching 16 runs in the 19th over, where Mukul hit one four and two sixes to Cameron Green, LSG needed 14 runs in the final over. While Avesh took a single on the first delivery, Mukul hit a six on the next ball. After two dot balls, Mukul hit another six to make the game one run off the last ball, which he secured through a successful bye run.

CSK's middle-order batter, Sarfaraz Khan, turned the game for the team after he came out to bat. He slammed the consecutive boundaries against Vijaykumar Vyshak before losing his wicket on the fourth ball. However, he scored 32 off 12 balls, including six boundaries and one six. 

He is one of those players who plays aggressive cricket and looks like a player who has the intent to score runs in the middle overs. CSK do have a few batters who score runs when needed, but the bowling is still questionable. If they want to win the game, the bowlers will have to take wickets in the powerplay and put pressure on the batters.

Phil Salt’s stunning boundary effort removes Heinrich Klaasen

In the 13.1 over, Heinrich Klaasen, looking all set, tried to hit the back-of-the-length delivery, but the ball travelled towards the deep mid-wicket, and Salt took the catch near the boundary ropes. He was near the boundary, and hence, the on-field umpires went upstairs to check whether the catch was clean or not. 

The umpires took a few minutes and looked through different angles, and gave the decision in favour of RCB. However, Klaasen was not satisfied with the decision and stood near the boundary line, talking to the umpire. There were no clear angles which showed the fielder touching the boundary ropes. Moreover, the ropes didn't move, and that might have been the reason behind the umpires' decision.
