KL Rahul scored his second Test century at Lord’s by staying calm, choosing his shots carefully, and reading the conditions well. The pitch was tough and punished any mistakes, but Rahul stayed patient. He reached his hundred in 176 balls and became the first Indian since Dilip Vengsarkar to make two Test centuries at Lord’s. It was a solid, determined innings that got his name back on the honours board four years after his last century here.

On Day 3, Rahul and Rishabh Pant picked up where they left off from the previous day. But they had a setback just before lunch.
Their partnership of 141 runs ended on the last ball of the session because of a mix-up. Rahul was on 98, with four balls left before the break, when Pant tried to take a risky single to get him back on strike. England’s captain Ben Stokes hit the stumps directly to run Pant out.

That run out could have distracted Rahul, but the lunch break helped him calm down. He got to his century soon after play restarted, in the second over after lunch.
It was his tenth century in Test cricket. Earlier, Rahul had faced a tight spell from England’s seamers but stayed patient. When Brydon Carse bowled poorly, Rahul took advantage, hitting three fours in a single over. That attacking play lifted India’s run rate and took the pressure off before the run out happened.

Pant played with his usual attacking style, keeping the bowlers busy. That allowed Rahul to play at his own steady pace. Their partnership was strong, handling everything England tried short balls and spin until that one moment of hesitation led to the wicket.

Rahul also passed a big milestone. He went past Virender Sehwag to become India’s second-highest run-scoring opener in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia. Only Sunil Gavaskar has more runs than him in these countries. Rahul’s first century at Lord’s was in India’s last Test here, when he scored 129 from 250 balls. India won that match by 151 runs.
