The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 took place from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka. The tournament gave fans many exciting games, big surprises, and strong batting displays. After the group stage, 20 teams competed, and 8 teams moved to the Super Eight round. Later, England, South Africa, and New Zealand reached the semi-finals with steady performances.
In Sri Lanka, bowlers got some help from the pitch. But in Indian stadiums, batsmen found better scoring chances. In these conditions, opening players played a very important role for their teams.
Here are five opening batsmen who performed very well in the T20 World Cup 2026
1. Sahibzada Farhan

Sahibzada Farhan from Pakistan was the top run scorer in the tournament. He scored 383 runs in six innings with an average of 76.60. He started with 47 runs against the Netherlands and then scored 73 against the USA. He got a duck against India but came back strongly.
He scored an unbeaten 100 against Namibia and another century against Sri Lanka. His good batting helped Pakistan, but the team did not reach the semi-finals.
2. Brian Bennett

Brian Bennett was one of the surprise players of the tournament. Zimbabwe played as underdogs but beat Australia and Sri Lanka to reach the Super Eight. Bennett helped his team with important runs.
He scored 48 not out against Oman and then 64* against Australia and 63* against Sri Lanka. His attacking batting at the top was very useful for Zimbabwe.
In the Super Eight, he scored only five runs against the West Indies but played a brilliant unbeaten 97 against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Even though Zimbabwe lost, his knock was highly praised.

3. Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram played well for South Africa in the tournament. He scored 59 against Canada but only five against Afghanistan. Later, he played a big unbeaten 86 against New Zealand and helped South Africa reach the Super Eight.
He also scored 82 not out against West Indies, helping South Africa reach the semi-finals. His batting and captaincy were very important for the team.
4. Tim Seifert

Tim Seifert scored 216 runs in six innings and helped New Zealand reach the semi-finals. He scored 65 against Afghanistan and 89 not out against the UAE. He also made a big opening stand with Finn Allen.
His form was a little low later, but he still played useful innings, with a highest score of 35 against England in the Super Eight.
5. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan played an important innings for India. He scored 20 against the USA, 61 against Namibia, and 77 against Pakistan. His aggressive batting gave India good momentum.
He also scored 18 against the Netherlands, got a duck against South Africa, and made 38 quick runs against Zimbabwe. His attacking batting style helped India in the tournament.
