Pakistan Slips to Third After Loss to India

After the 61-run loss, Salman Ali Agha's side has dropped to third place in Group A. They have the same points as the USA, but their net run rate is now negative. This is a big concern for the team.

Pakistan will now face Namibia in their final group match on 18th February at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo.

How Can Pakistan Qualify for the Super 8s?

Namibia have not won any match in the tournament. But they will try to end on a high note with a win against Pakistan.

The equation for Pakistan is simple. They must win against Namibia to qualify for the Super 8 stage.

If the match is washed out, Pakistan will qualify based on points. But if they lose to Namibia, they will be knocked out of the tournament. It will be the second straight T20 World Cup where they fail to go past the group stage.

Pakistan had started well by winning their first two matches against the Netherlands and the USA. But after losing to India, they are now under pressure. India now leads Pakistan 8-1 in their nine T20 World Cup meetings.

Which Group Will Pakistan Join If They Qualify?

If Pakistan qualify, they are already placed in Group 2 of the Super 8s. They will play against England, New Zealand, and co-hosts Sri Lanka.

They still have a chance to reach the semi-finals and even the final. But first, they must win their last group match against Namibia. The team will be under heavy pressure in this important game.

India, after this win, continues their strong run in ICC tournaments. In the last four major events, India has lost only one out of 27 matches.
