Zimbabwe delivered a spirited all-round display to defeat Australia by 23 runs in Match 19 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Batting first, they posted a competitive 169/2 in 20 overs, building key partnerships at crucial intervals. Brian Bennett anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten 64, while Tadiwanashe Marumani’s brisk 35 provided early momentum. Ryan Burl added stability in the middle overs before captain Sikandar Raza’s late flourish powered Zimbabwe to an imposing total on a steady surface.

Australia’s bowlers struggled to consistently break partnerships as Zimbabwe maintained control through calculated acceleration. Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green managed a wicket each, but the attack lacked sustained penetration. In reply, Australia endured a shaky start, losing early wickets that disrupted their chase. Blessing Muzarabani spearheaded the defense with a brilliant four-wicket haul, striking at crucial junctures to keep Zimbabwe firmly ahead and apply sustained pressure on the Australian batting lineup.

Despite a fighting 65 from Matt Renshaw and brief resistance from Glenn Maxwell, Australia failed to establish the partnerships required to overhaul the target. Brad Evans provided excellent support with three vital wickets, while Wellington Masakadza and Ryan Burl chipped in with timely breakthroughs. As the required rate climbed, Zimbabwe’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensured Australia were bowled out for 146 in 19.3 overs, sealing a memorable and hard-earned Group B victory.
