The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), have kept their core for IPL 2026. They have a set playing XI and will only search for backups in the upcoming mini-auction on December 16.  With INR 16.4 crore remaining in the purse to spend on the flagship event, this would most likely be one of the chillest IPL auctions the arsenal has ever witnessed, indicating a strengthened unit.  That being said, here are the top three possible targets for the reigning champions in the IPL 2026 Auction. 

1. Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer will be ready to attract high bids from franchises, with RCB expected to raise the paddle as they try to strengthen their middle order and add a versatile all-rounder. Given his ability to bat at the top or middle of the order and contribute useful overs, the all-rounder might be an asset to RCB's overhauled IPL 2026 lineup. Not to mention the previous year's auction, which made him one of the most popular players in the competition, RCB was also involved in the furious bidding against KKR, indicating their strong interest in him.
