Punjab Kings pulled off a stunning five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in a high-scoring IPL 2026 clash.  With a demanding target set at 210 runs, the performance of the PBKS batsmen exemplified confidence and they achieved this mark without trepidation by reaching a total of 210 runs/5 wickets off the final ball of the 18 th over. Like its previous encounter, this game provided spectators with excitement from the moment it started until the moment it finished and demonstrated both teams’ desire to score quickly. The decision made by Punjab to field first certainly had its risks based on the strength of Chennai’s batting order, but the team’s confidence in their ability to chase was proven correct. Chennai Super Kings set a very competitive total of 209/5 in their 20 overs on the back of an exceptional innings from Ayush Mhatre’s 73 runs off 43 balls; complemented by Shivam Dube remaining unbeaten on 45 runs and a late blitz from Sarfaraz Khan, where he scored 32 runs off only 12 balls at the end of the innings. Even though Chennai had a steady start, they really upped their scoring in the middle overs and again during the death of their innings with batting fury and hitting the most runs for all 20 overs. Punjab Kings Dominate Run Chase

Punjab Kings began their innings aggressively during the chase, with Priyansh Arya providing an explosive start by scoring 39 runs from 11 deliveries. Prabhsimran Singh then played a composed innings and contributed 43 runs, while Cooper Connolly hit quickly to score 36 runs. Punjab’s aggressive power-play batting strategy allowed them to put pressure on the Chennai bowlers and stay in front of the required run-rate, despite losing wickets at different times throughout their innings.

Captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings excellently, scoring an unbeaten 50 from 29 balls. As wickets tumbled around him, Iyer kept Punjab in the right direction to complete their chase with the assistance of Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis who both made late contributions to seal victory. Despite the excellent performance of Chennai bowlers such as Matt Henry and Anshul Kamboj, the depth of Punjab’s batting line-up was able to ensure that the team accomplished a significant victory.
