IPL 2026: Yashasvi Jaiswal powers RR to 27-run win over MI in rain-shortened clash
Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in IPL 2026 rain-shortened match, powered by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 77 and strong bowling performance to seal a dominant victory

Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a convincing 27-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in a rain-curtailed 11-over IPL 2026 encounter. Batting first, RR posted a commanding 150/3, making full use of the shortened format. Batters on both teams dominated the early part of the match, and the run scoring continued throughout the game, resulting in a high-scoring match where batters were prominent from start to finish. Rajasthan Royals started aggressively during their powerplay and built up plenty of runs to put a large total on the board. Even though Mumbai Indians chose to start the match by bowling first, their bowlers had difficulty holding back the runs scored due to the surface being conducive to batting.
RR's best performer was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who batted 77 not out off 32 balls. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added to RR's strong start, scoring 39 off 14 balls and was instrumental in putting up a lot of runs quickly to create a large total during the powerplay. RR also had contributions from Riyan Parag that kept the run rate up during the middle overs. The amount RR scored during the match ensured that the total was a challenging one for MI to chase as they were able to maintain an average run rate higher than 13 runs per over. MI bowlers were unable to stem the flow of runs scored by RR as they repeatedly gave up boundaries.
Although, the five time IPL winners managed to pick up a few wickets, they failed to stem Rajasthan’s aggressive batting. AM Ghazanfar was among the few bowlers who made an impact with two wickets, but overall, the bowling unit struggled under pressure. Rajasthan’s batters capitalized on loose deliveries and maintained a relentless scoring rate. Their ability to accelerate at crucial moments ensured they finished strongly, putting Mumbai under significant pressure in a shortened contest where every run proved valuable.

Mumbai Indians Fall Short in Chase
The Mumbai Indians had a difficult beginning, with early losses to players like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. These issues put weight upon the middle-order batsmen as they attempted to overcome the losses of their star players by building a partnership between Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford, although this was difficult because of rising run rates. In total, there were several good partnerships from within the team; however, nothing translated into sustained building of momentum to achieve their target.
Rajasthan’s bowlers were disciplined and effective in defending their total against the Mumbai Indians. Sandeep Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi both took very important wickets, while Nandre Burger collected two wickets as well. With the combined effort of these three bowlers, they would restrict Mumbai to 123 runs after eleven overs, despite lower-order resistance. Therefore, the team had an overall good performance by all players involved to earn an easy victory in this rain-delayed match.
