IPL and International Umpires salary revealed: How much do officials earn per match in 2026?
Cricket umpire earnings in 2026 vary by level, with top ICC and IPL officials earning significantly more than domestic and entry-level umpires.

The salary of a cricket umpire in 2026 depends on the level of matches they officiate. There is no fixed structure, as the payment structure is decided by the ICC, BCCI and IPL. The payment to umpires takes place through match fees, annual retainers (for top officials), and allowances such as traveling and staying.
At the highest level, ICC Elite Panel umpires earn the most. They officiate in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is across the world and receive yearly retainers along with per-match payments. In peak years, their total income can go up to ₹75 lakh–₹1.7 crore depending on assignments, travel allowances, and performance-based incentives.
However, the majority of income of IPL umpires is earned in the form of per-match fees in the season. While they don’t usually have annual retainers like ICC umpires, their per-match earnings are among the highest in cricket due to the league’s huge revenue. Domestic umpires in India earn much less and are paid per day or per match by the BCCI and state boards.
Top-tier Umpires take home up to ₹4 Lakh per Test while IPL officials earn ₹3 Lakh per game
At the international level, umpire salaries depend on the format of the game. In Test matches, the pay for the umpire is the highest, as they are paid around ₹3.7 to ₹4.4 lakhs for a match due to the longer duration of the match. ODIs and T20Is provide slightly lower match fee payments. Apart from this, the ICC umpire is also given allowances for traveling, staying, etc.
