Host West Indies were eliminated from the T20 World Cup after a disappointing loss to South Africa on Monday, June 25. The Proteas secured a 3-wicket victory in the reduced match, earning their first semi-final spot in the T20 World Cup since 2014. After defeating the West Indies the Aiden Markram-led team also clinched the top position in Super 8 Group 2.
South Africa and England have qualified for the semi-finals.
England became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals with a commanding 10-wicket win over the USA on Sunday, June 23. Spinner Adil Rashid and hat-trick hero Chris Jordan restricted USA to 115 in 18.5 overs before skipper Jos Buttler smashed quick-fire 83 to seal a 10-wicket win for England. As the USA were dismissed for just 115 in Barbados and defending champions England chased their target in just 9.4 overs meaning they confirmed their semi-final berth.
South Africa have won yet another tight one and secured progression to the knockout stages of the tournament, entering the final four unbeaten. They scraped home against a spirited West Indies side that never gave in, sealing victory with five balls to spare and running out of batting options.
