Top 5 batting performances from Day 2 of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26

After a fabulous batting performance in the opening round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025/26, the focus was again on the star performers to continue their performance in the second round of the tournament on December 26. Apart from some of the notable cricketers of the National side, the youngsters raised their skills and put up a great performance with the bat. 

Unlike the last round of the tournament, Rohit Sharma failed for a golden duck for Mumbai against Uttarakhand at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, as thousands of spectators could not fulfill their dream of seeing the open air put off a notable performance with the bat.

A look at the top five batting performances from Day 2 of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26

1.   Rinku Singh (Uttar Pradesh)

The left-handed middle-order batter of the Uttar Pradesh side, Rinku Singh, had a decent outing in the last game against Hyderabad with the help of 67 runs, but in the second round against Chandigarh, he drilled an unbeaten knock of 106 runs in just 60 deliveries at a strike rate of nearly 180 with the help of 11 boundaries and four sixes. 

Rinku, who has been picked in the T20 World Cup 2026 squad for the Indian side. He has again displayed his unbelievable skill of being brutal against the bowlers in no time. He featured in only two ODIs for the national side, but with an average of nearly 50 and a strike rate of close to 100 with over 2000 runs in List-A cricket, he could remain in the ODI plan for the BCCI.

Brief Sores: Uttar Pradesh 367/4 (Aryan Juyal 134, Rinku Singh 106*, Taranpreet Singh 2/74) beat Chandigarh 140 (Manan Vohra 32, Zaeeshan Ansari 4/29) by 227 runs.

2.   Harnoor Singh (Punjab)

Harnoor Singh only featured in three T20 clashes for Punjab in the domestic tournament. Even after missing the opening round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the opening batter smashed an unbeaten knock of 115 runs in 114 deliveries against Chhattisgarh to help the side complete a successful chase of 254 runs in 42.1 overs. His knock was decorated with 12 boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of just over 100.

It has been a dream debut for the South Pole at the age of just 22. He was well supported by Anmolpreet Singh in the chase, who nailed a fantastic knock of 105 in 96 deliveries, scoring 10 boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of nearly 110.

Brief Score: Punjab 254/1 (Harnoor Singh 115*, Anmolpreet Singh 105*, Mohit Raut 1/41) beat Chhattisgarh 253 (Amandeep Khare 76, Mayank Varma 64, Krish Bhagat 3/33) by nine wickets.

3.   Dhruv Shorey (Vidarbha)

Dhruv Shorey has been in the form of his life in cricket in the last five innings of the List-A format; he has now celebrated five successive centuries. In 73 innings, the right-handed batter has managed overall 2957 runs at an average of 43.15 and a strike rate of over 80 with the help of eight centuries and 19 fifties at the best score of 136.

After his cracking knock of 136 against Bengal two days ago, Dhruv played another magnificent unbeaten knock of 109 in just 77 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries and six sixes at a strike rate of more than 140 as he helped the editor to post a massive score of 365 in the allotted 50 overs.

Brief Scores: Vidarbha 365/5 (Dhurv Shorey 109*, Aman Mokhade, Kartikeya Kak 3/87) beat Hyderabad 276 (Aelgani Goud 85, Harsh Dubey 3/39) by 89 runs.

4.   Yawer Hassan (Jammu & Kashmir)

The number three batter of Jammu and Kashmir, Yawer Hasan, made his debut in the List-A cricket against Assam in the second round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025/26. And he impressed the selectors with 138 in just 109 balls at a strike rate of 126.61, thanks to 13 boundaries and four sixes, having got a strong opening stand of 69 runs.

Jammu Kashmir posted a massive score of 341 in their allotted 50 before bundling out for only 199 in the second and completing a massive victory by 142 runs.

Brief Scores: Jammu and Kashmir 341/7 (Yawer Hassan 138, Qamran Iqbal 55, Denish das 2/46) beat Assam 199 (Sumit Ghadigaonkar 53. Murugan Ashwin 5/34) by 142 runs.

5.   Yashvardhan Dalal (Haryana)

Yashvardhan Dalal made his debut in List A cricket in the opening round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. But, he smashed a fine knock of unbeaten 164 runs in just 135 balls at a strike rate of over 120 with the help of 20 boundaries and five sixes to complete a decent chase of 256 runs with 11 overs to spare against Saurashtra in Alur.

His knock may sound like the pitch was really helpful for the batters, but apart from him, no one could have spent time in the middle, as the next best score individually in the chase was 67 runs by Parth Vats.

Brief Scores: Haryana 256/4 (Yashvardhan Dalal 164*, Ankur Pawar 3/51) beat Saurashtra 253 (Harvik Desai 101, Anshul Kamboj 3/30) by six wickets.
