Sikandar Raza-led Zimbabwe kept their unbeaten run in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 alive in style as they stunned Australia by 23 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday. With this win, Zimbabwe jumped to the number two spot in the Group B points table.

This victory was Zimbabwe’s first win over Australia in T20Is since 2007, when they beat them in the inaugural T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe had lost two games against Australia in a tri-series, so this result also means they are now unbeaten against Australia in T20 World Cups.

Batting first, Australia put up 138 on the board, with only Andrew Symonds and Brad Hodge scoring more than 30 runs. Zimbabwe bowler Elton Chigumbura single-handedly destroyed the Australian batting lineup.

Chasing this small target against a strong Australian bowling attack, veteran batter Brendan Taylor scored 60 not out to win the match. He was also named the Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.

The result leaves Group B tightly contested, with Zimbabwe leading Australia by two points, alongside Sri Lanka, who face Australia next.
