Although being one of the most prosperous IPL teams, the Mumbai Indians have not been successful in their first match for more than a decade. Mumbai Indians lost their opening match one after another each of these years, which led to a slow start in the tournament. Last season proved to be another failed attempt when MI lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025, the same trend persisted.
