India captain Rohit Sharma has said that his team’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph was more special than his 2007 win as a player, as he was leading the team. However, the Indian team finally returned home on Thursday, July 4 after winning the World Cup by beating South Africa in the final as well.
However, special arrangements were made both in Delhi and Mumbai for the Indian team as fans gave a great reception to the World Champions upon their arrival in India. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the players for breakfast, a special open-roof bus road show was also organized for the fans by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in Mumbai to see the team as well.

However, a video released by the BCCI showed the emotions of the fans and players during the roadshow as well. Meanwhile, India captain Rohit Sharma is seen reminiscing about his first T20 World Cup win as a player in 2007. He also said that the 2024 victory was a bit more special for him as he was leading the team. He also expressed happiness to be able to bring a smile to the faces of the entire nation with their win as well.
“2007 was a different feeling, we started off in the afternoon and this is in the evening. I cannot forget 2007 as it was my first World Cup. This is little more special because I was leading the team so it’s a very proud moment for me. This is going to be mad. You can make out the excitement and it shows how much it means not just to us but also to the entire nation. It means a lot. So, I am very happy that we could achieve something like this for them as well,” said Rohit Sharma in a video released by BCCI.
