Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer has revealed a major injury update about Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Ahead of the PBKS vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) match, Iyer has informed us that Maxwell has a fractured finger, for which he is out of the match and makes him uncertain for the rest of the ongoing IPL 2025.
Glenn Maxwell has been a decorative figure in limited-overs cricket for international and franchise cricket leagues. The all-rounder, who is now in his 13th IPL season, far away from his prime, played 7 IPL 2025 games with an overall 8.00 batting average.
Punjab Kings has played some promising matches in the ongoing tournament, but their playoff spot has not yet been decided. The team is currently lying on a thin line between the playoffs line and the exit gate. Maxwell's consistent lackluster performance became a drawback for the Punjab-based franchise. Experts also expressed their concerns over his poor form. Due to injury, PBKS needs to find a perfect replacement for the Aussie.

Marcus Stoinis: The ace all-rounder from South Africa can be the best find to replace Glenn Maxwell. Stoinis has made his name worldwide through his swashbuckling batting abilities and useful bowling attributions. He has played over 100 IPL matches over the years. In this season, he has played 7 matches so far with a 16.75 batting average, including an unbeaten 34-run knock, but has yet to take a wicket.
Azmatullah Omarzai: The Afghan all-rounder can play important hands during his prime days. His wicket-taking abilities can be crucial in the middle game. So far he has experienced only 10 matches with Gujarat Titans (IPL 2024) and now with Punjab Kings. The subcontinent conditions are a perfect fit for the Afghanistan international cricketer.
Aaron Hardie: An untouched talent in the Indian Premier League. The right-handed all-rounder has already impressed during his international duties with Australia. Hardie made his T20I debut for Australia last year against Scotland in September, scoring 33 off 18 and taking 2/24. In February 2025, he notched a T20I fifty (66* off 41) against a strong New Zealand.
